*NEW* 2015 Dell Inspiron 15 - 7559, i7 6700HQ/GTX960M owners thread

I've just done that, thanks :)

Dell Outlet refurb (1080p, 8gb model) with Student discount and an 850 from OCUK. Total a shade under £620 - very happy with that!

In case you are wondering about the gpu, I ordered one of these from the outlet with the student discount as well for £560 and the 960m is the 4gb version and not 2gb as it says on the listing.

Result! :)

I thought it would be seeing as they only sell 4gb versions but tbh I wouldn't be too fussed either way - 2gb should be fine for 1080p gaming on a mid-low end gpu :)

Just debating upgrading to 16Gb ram now :D

Quick question, I hope you don't mind.

How do you go about using your Student Discount? Have a couple of family members that might be able to do it for me, so was wondering what needed to be done before asking them :p

You need to contact chat on the outlet store and get a reference number. Then you need to email the reference to them from a valid student email address (any email ending in .ac.uk) and they'll reply with a 10% discount code.

They've royally screwed up my order though, their system let me buy one that was already allocated and now they're out of stock and I used the single use student code. Call centre staff at Dell are truly dire, they used to have pretty decent customer service too :(

So I finally had a chance to get this out of the box last night, and I can't say I expected the amount of backlight bleed that I was presented with! I have confirmed with HWinfo that it is indeed the BOE screen, unsurprisingly!

Here are some pictures... is this bad or am I being a little too picky here? It's definitely noticeable, obviously only when on an extremely dark screen/watching movies with black bars.

Excuse my low-light potato phone!

That looks Pretty bad I don't have any with the LG screen. Did you get it from Dell I would ask for a replacement tbh..

This is mine for comparison. Try sending your picks and mine to Dell if they are Not very helpful.

I didn't get it from Dell, shouldn't make too much of a difference should it? I'm a little bit hesitant to ask for a replacement, might just ask for a refund, then get one direct from Dell if that would give me a higher chance of netting a non-pants one :p

In my experience, Dell give less resistance to returns than 3rd parties. You're well within your rights as that's not how other peoples 7559 looks!

Update on my faulty touchpad issue,I contacted Dell, they phonrd me back within an hour. They gave me 2 options.1)Get replacement laptop sent, approx ten days, whilst keeping this one till new one arrives.2)Dell engineer will come Monday to attempt fix,if fix not possible then revert back to option 1.I have chosen option 2 as everything else on laptop is A1,LG screen no bleed etc.Must say I am pleasantly surprised by the service from Dell as I had a nightmare with my previous Dell,a studio 1558,and swore I would never touch them again. Also glad I took out 2 years for price of 1 premium warranty that was on offer when I purchased laptop.

Can imagine Diablo and WoW would pose a problem.

Rust running on the same GPU (or rather the "lesser" 2GB Version and a lower spec i5 laptop)

Thanks for that!

And did you mean 'can't imagine' by any chance or do you think it would struggle with Diablo 3 and WoW?

Didn't think to search for the graphics card only for gameplay footage so i'll give that a go :)

Looks pretty bad and mine looked like that at first but it's nothing like that now?! Not a great problem for me though as I only play Football Manager and surf the net on mine.

Diablo 3 is fairly easy to run on modest hardware and WoW is more or less CPU bound, right? The 6700HQ is an awesome mobile CPU ;)

So the backlight bleed reduced? Wouldn't have thought that would be possible without fiddling with the screen! Weird.
