New 4K TV

I have had Plasma screens and an OLED and tbh I'm not seeing the issue with LCD's tbh. I'm more happy with my current Samsung LCD than I was with the LG OLED or Sony 4K ones I had for a while. The picture and motion to me are fantastic.

to get the best out of any tv it needs to be calibrated properly.

OLED is the future but it's still very much in it's infancy.

The GT50 I will keep until it dies but that doesn't mean it won't be replaced as my main tv. It will become my second tv at some point.

It will be replaced by an OLED most likely in about 5-7 years time when they have matured. I won't part with the GT50 until it dies though because it is such a fantastic set and a complete bargain.

I will struggle to ever get such a good tv for such a great price again. It would be some feat to top this tv for £799 brand new.

It's the same reason why so many have held onto their Kuro's for nearly a decade, albeit they cost a lot more. Even in this day and age of 3D, smart, 4K people are still using Kuro's. That's why the GT50 won't be a dinosaur in 5-7 years time, a quality tv stands the test of time.

The PZ85B is still vey much a great tv too and it served me well but it wasn't as refined as the GT50 is.

Would you also recommend a good 1080p TV then instead of a 4K capable one?

Thanks :)

well now you know :D:D:D we've done the work for you, get that GT50 off Ebay, there's also a ST55, three VT55s

that's mine, i'll be selling that soon on MM if my bid for the VT65'' is accepted

at your budget £700 definitely. All your going to get at that budget that is 4K is rubbish. You would need to triple that budget at least.

I have the Samsung mentioned above but the 55" version. It uses a VA panel so has nice deep blacks. It's £699 and tbh I think it's fantastic for the money and although only 1080p it's gives great results.

Not sure I would be spending that much on a 2nd hand plasma TV but that's me.

A pic just for the hell of it...... :-)

£2500 for a 55" VT65

or £1100 for a 50" professionally calibrated GT50

with the £1400 left over I could buy a projector setup and get that calibrated too.

I would forget plasma now unless you can buy one for cheap. if you didn't buy 2-3 years ago then you have missed the boat.

OP: go to hdtvtest stick and use the filters to recommend you some tv's. simple as that really. okay i'll do it for you.

£600. I would take the spare £100 and put it towards a professional calibration

yes definitely, i offered him £1400 for the VT65'' and i havent received a reply so i feel quite relieved, it's too much money for a 2nd hand plasma if you already have one, because it's just a straight swap for the same tv that's only 10'' bigger.

so it looks like the Sony 1080p, the Sammy 4k flat, or maybe the LG 4k, but i need to see the Sony 1080P in their showroom when i return from my holidays.

you really have to look into every little bit of info about this TV.

i bought a samsung TV the other month for my missus, only a 26"? one for the bedroom and thought "yea i will get a smart TV and it will get all the TV apps". tried to get netflix when it came and for some silly arsed reason samsung have made a deal with someone not to allow netflix to be installed on this TV.

the TV is great does everything better than the old one. and i do have other things that offer netflix. so its no biggy.
