My dad wants a new card, is it best if he went with the 8800 GT or wait for this one?

btw how is the cheaper GT better than the current GTS? i thought GTS was better until i saw the benchmarks.

he has only got a 8400 GS he got it with his pc from aldi, i did warn him about it and he was saying about all the cheaters in the games so i said why bother playing them then.. lol

warned him it would suck for games but no he didnt listen, now he wants a new card.

It's not the same card as the 8800 GTS we are waiting for. That card is still the G80 line, although has more SP as you mentioned and therefore is faster and in some cases lines up with the G92 8800 GT, but the 8800GT mostly does beat it still.

Now i'm confused. I thought that this card is the one which is, supposidely, going to be better than the 8800GT? Isn't it going to be more expensive than the 8800GT?

Nvidia decided to cloud the market and we will have

8800GTS G80 96SP original
8800GTS G80 112SP out now
8800GT G92
8800GTS G92 out december

"There will be a refresh of the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB.
However, it won't be based on the G92, but an improved version of the G80 GPU.
The new NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS will have a soft launch on December 3, 2007 with market availability only two weeks later, from December 17 onwards."

Are you questioning me or this thread...coz that post appears to agree with me.

im agreeing with you mate ,it seems the latest roomer is no g92 gts

Except if you search this forum you will find a post with a link to nvidia's website detailing a 521Mb GTS card before they took it down.

I am confident G92 GTS is coming with 128 sp

No annoucement on the supposed launch date ie. 19th of november, if it's not next week I'd be doubtful for a december release with an 08 release looking more likely.

I am sure that a new GTS is coming, Nvidia have said it is. But the question is that whether it'll be G92 or not - the other thread which apparant 1st hand Nvidia information said that it's a tweaked G80 and not a G92 which is the concern for me.

The way I look at it is if Nvidia are releasing a new GTS then it has to be one that outperforms the GT. It even has to outperform an OC'd GT and the only way that's going to be possible is if its based on the G92.
