New Alienware Q3 2020

just started to play, can only hear the fan with my ear next to the vent. so far havent seen any pixels dead or stuck and uniformity looks good.
my desk is 800 and tbh the stand brings the monitor way closer than my last one. might consider a desk mount or wall mount if the monitor works out well. so far its ace

I got the 34" and yeah compared to my previous 34" UW the stand brings it way out onto the desk. The stand is lovely though so I guess I can live with it but I think Ill be looking at changing my desk to something wider to accommodate it better.

my desk is already 800mm deep :p its a great stand but i think for using this you almost need 800 from eyes to front of screen

Interesting observation. I also have an 800mm deep desk (and 2.8m wide lol) as I can't stand shallow desks. With a lot of these large monitors I do wonder if people with more common, shallower desks, truly appreciate how much space these screens take up.

I measured the depth of my AW3421DW at about 250mm from the rear of the stand to the front centre of the screen (obviously the curved edges are a bit further out than this). Would be interested to hear how the 38 compares.

My desk is about 700mm but offset slightly off the wall which I used to use an additional gap for previous monitors but I really can't risk it with this one as its a behemoth and its obviously not cheap! I have managed to steal maybe 50mm off the edge but cant risk any farther.

Im now sitting about 600mm in terms of eyes to panel which is actually OK but I would prefer it back another little bit.

its about the same depth as your AW3421DW. from me to front edge is around 600 from my normal position. defiantly a bit close for me. i think a desk mount would be ideal but god knows how much a good quality one would cost? from a quick look about £200 for this size.
tbh i can stand desks smaller then 800mm deep and ideally id like at least another 150mm between me and the screen front.

Mine's arrived and just setting up. My desk is 65cm deep and the screen's too close. Have ordered the Ergotron HX mount. £195.73 inc next day delivery. Don't know if I'm allowed to mention the website so if you look on the web it should be the first on the shopping tab listed at £187.76.

Love the widescreen

that does look good, thank you. i think i will just see if i get used to it first. loving the screen so far.

So ive u boxed and set up, did an initial pixel scan and saw nothing, after about 5 minutes though I booted up a game and get a bright blue stuck boy :(. Only 1 spot of very minimal back light bleed and ips glow seems OK though. Still a bright blue pixel means it's time to take advantage of that advanced exchange warranty.

Not sure how close you're sitting to the desk.

My 3418DW is right at the back edge of the desk and I've just measured the distance from my eyes to the centre of the screen and it's about 810mm which is just about perfect for me.

There's a 480mm gap from the front edge of the desk to the front of the stand legs which is plenty for a large 'gaming surface' pad.

that would work for me as well, the 800mm eye/screen but without sitting a long way back i cant get that.

My AW3821DW just shipped! I won't have to wait 10 days after all. Cannot track it yet but hopefully it arrives before weekend.

EDIT

Haha, it goes by Schenker and the current status is DEPARTURE FROM OVERSEAS LOCATION. And the last entry is from... tomorrow. They must living in their own time zone then :p

I have an OCUK XXXXXXXXXXL (ok slight exaggeration) mat and thats 600mm deep and it's still a wee bit close for me. but I want my entire desk covered by it which is why I have two of them so Im weird I suppose.
