New Alienware Q3 2020

Finally out for delivery...only a week after ordering!! :p

8:54-9:54 arrival from DHL :D

It's arrived, it's set up and it's glorious :D

Just played a quick TDM of Black Ops Cold War on it, 1440p HDR on and hitting 200-220fps consistently on my 3090FE...so butter smooth, I'm in love with it.

I'll mess about with it later but first impressions are top notch, I've really missed this resolution as 1080p 240hz was great but really I wasn't stretching my PC's legs. Also not a fan of how Dell just ship things in the Monitor Box for it to be clear for all to see

Really interested to hear if the HDR is as bas as krzychowiec mentioned? I have ordered the 38" one which arrives tomorrow and am surprised it is classed as Gsync Ultimate yet is only HDR600 when Nvidia certification requires 1000HDR.

Mine arrives tomorrow so can see for myself, but interested in others opinions.

Anyone had problems with BLB on their monitors? Hard to capture in pictures, but I definitely have some on mine in the bottom left hand corners and a small amount in the bottom right - I think I will speak to Dell about returning / exchanging.

First time I've had to do this and don't really want to fall into a cycle of getting worse panels each time, but I think it makes sense given the price and time I'll keep this monitor for

It doesnt. Its just up until now every monitor with the Ultimate cert has but Nvidia have now dropped that requirement. Werent that many monitors getting the Ultimate badge as needing HDR1000 and FALD and a gsync 2 module were few and far between (which is how it should be IMO)

Ouch thats really bad. i couldnt live with a monitor as bad as that. My 6 year old £450 screen has zero BLB. Manufacturers have really dropped their quality standards since.

Agree, it's definitely noticeable in dark scenes and the LG it's replacing is perfect with zero bleed

Thanks for clearing that up!!

It's certainly not bad by any stretch of the imagination but it's also not mind blowing either.

I've stuck it on, ran some HDR tests to confirm the brightness etc that it's hitting and to be honest I think it look good in game etc. I've actually just swapped over from the previous Alienware 27 to this one and I can definitely see the difference.

Nope I had absolutely none on mine. Thank God I was lucky, and yes, if you find bleed irritating then for sure return it. Either way, I'm sorry this happened to you, I know how disappointing this sort of thing can be. :(

When checking the AW3821DW I received last week, I haven't been able to find any bleed whatsoever (On 90% brightness in a dark room). Sorry to see you received a monitor with relatively extensive bleed

I actually think the 2 spots in the bottom left are really common currently with these new 'Oxide' panels. Mine has bleed in the EXACT same spots and every youtube video of the monitor has shown it there too along with most pictures of the AW2721D on reddit too. Unfortunately Rtings and TFT Central are yet to review this model however if you go to their respective reviews of the LG 27GN950 you will notice their black uniformity shows bleed in the 2 exact spots in the left hand corner, in fact one youtube video compares the AW2721D with the 27GN950 and both show this exact same bleed. I appreciate that the AW2721D and 27GN950 use different panels but both are the first of LGs new 'Oxide' 4 side borderless and I don't think its a coincidence that both show the same 2 spots of bleed. (I haven't added the pictures from reviews or the youtube videos as not sure what I can and cannot link to)

I apologise about my above posts, I can't figure out how to include a quote in my post (edit: Only just noticed there is a place to write text after you scroll down past the images). I know, I feel like an idiot. Anyway, in response to LackyT, my monitor is exactly the same as yours with BLB in the same spots. I'm returning mine. I don't know whether or not to get another one as I have a feeling the whole batch might have this issue. Every image I have seen of the AW2721D has BLB in the lower left of the screen.

No worries haha :D Yeah, after looking around today it seems the panels are either fine or have issues with BLB in the lower left of the screen. Have you kicked off your return process?

It's a shame it's so common on these oxide panels (as mentioned above the 27gn950 is the same) but as per every single other monitor available right now there is a trade off and this bottom left bleed seems to be this monitors (along with no 10bit 240hz). I think I'll be keeping the AW2721D for now but won't hesitate to upgrade the moment FALD IPS or OLED become available at 27inch high refresh rate.

You are right, it's a real shame. Other than the light bleed I love the monitor, it's well built, it looks nice & feels great in games. However in dark content like say games set in space that light bleed shines through & ruins the experience. I hate returning things but If I'm to keep this monitor for the foreseeable future I want it to be fault free, within reason. I don't mind IPS glow, it's part of the package but back light bleed is a deal breaker. My other two IPS monitors are both free from it thankfully but they are years old.

I'm awaiting a replacement for mine still due to a Bright pixel, currently onto working day 4 for the replacement and it still shows as 'pending approval'. I'm hoping I get away with bleed on that one.
