New Alienware Q3 2020

Yeah it's the insurance issue that's the problem.

Personally, were I selling something like a large monitor, I'd offer to "courier" it myself within a reasonable distance :)

I bought my first Dell ultrawide several years ago from the MM here and drove a seven-hour round trip to fetch it :)

I took a risk once as someone was selling an asus 43 4k 120hz at an amazing price. They kept lowering the price as no one could pick it up, I arranged my own courier with no insurance and luckily it was fine. I think the quotes they got for insured delivery was £100 plus..

Interesting comparison between the G9 and the 38" Alienware.

Yeah I saw that. Whilst it's interesting from a technical perspective, I'm not sure how relevant the technical details are as the primary purchase decision would be based on which aspect ratio you want as they're radically different.

It's like comparing the technical details of two cars when you vastly prefer the looks of one over the other :)

It was interesting to me because I was also tempted slightly by the G9. The G9 certainly is one that the reviewers seem to rave about a lot, despite it's imperfections. The only thing that really puts me off the G9 is that it's resolution would be EVEN harder to drive than the 38" Alienware.

[removed my own pointless waffle as I was getting confused]

Do we know for certain yet whether the Gsync module rules out FreeSync or Adaptive sync?

In the user manual it mentions G-Sync four times, but does NOT mention Freesync or Adaptive Sync at all, so I am guessing the answer is no, it doesn't. But I think we will really have to wait until someone specifically mentions it.

Is there any other 1440p 240hz 27" coming soon except that Alienware? I am not a fan of those stand legs but if it will have promising reviews I might go for it. All other monitors with that specs are either TN panels or curved like samsung which makes them out of my list.

Also its $730 on US amazon so fingers crossed it might go for around £650 with some discounts.

im curious where did the date (26th) and price for the UK release quoted on tftcentral come from

No However I believe people on the internet have suggested it could be. As a lot of the times the VRR tech behind these solutions works on both, it's just nvidia and dell won't acknowledge it or go through the AMD certification programe.

We need somebody to be a gineau pig and buy one and try it to know for certain. Any volunteers :D
