Guys

AMD say no to the games with new cards, so first thing I have to remove the games otherwise they will have me shot. :(

Ok so that mean these new rebranded cards come with less games (none at all) slower clock speeds ( reference R9 280x/7970 GHz ed) less shaders (R9 270x/ 7950) and a higher prices. AMD following Nividia's example of the 760 I see then. :D

I guess the situation is slightly different.

The GTX760 is slower/lower spec, but higher price than the EOL price of GTX670.

The R9 270X is Pitcairn XT, from the reviews I've read.

That's *not* a 7950. It's not Tahiti, or even Tahiti LE.

That's a 7870, just overclocked. The comparisons to 7950 are not warranted. It should be compared to a 7870, and in that case it is 7870 performance for 7870 price. No price reduction.

*looks at 7950 prices across various stores*

WTH? :(

Shoulda got the IceQ before TWO ended!

I think the only place you can get acceptable value for money is on the 2nd hand market.

I'm hoping that - at least in 6 months time - prices of 2nd hand 7950s will be near £110 or so... maybe :p

New prices on the entire range are exorbitant. I wonder how many people (like me) used to buy new cards, but won't touch the new market any more, because of AMD's and nV's greed. They must be losing some sales, surely...

The Asus 280X at £320 - Im guessing that even the cheapest 290 will have some distance between the most expensive 280X? Otherwise not really sure who whould buy an overpriced 280X when a 290 is not much more? Worries me that the 290 price could end up being close to £400.....

Yeah and the rest buddy! :D
