New computer build.

Right guys, I believe everything is connected but the graphics card. Someone suggested earlier about only starting up with the minimal things. Should I do this before connecting the GPU? Don't want to burn everything out if it all goes wrong! What do you guys think?

Thanks :)

Yep just connected up the two ATX12V connectors for the CPU which needed quite a bit of force. Now I am going to install GPU, then I believe it's time.

Will have to sort cables out after I have checked its working OK :P

He's right it won't work with that mobo as its got no vga port that I can see, sahme but ah well should be fine. With the drivers i'd personally load 11.4...the newest are terrible...just click on the older drivers bit on the page.....but for now if its easier go 11.6 (newest) worry about best later.

Right thanks! Graphics card is installed, one question. I have connected up the two pcie power connectors. However one does not say that it is PCI-E on it. I presume it is because it fits and there is nothing else it can be? This is it below:

And this is the graphics card and everything in:

So what do I do now? Do I power on without the OS first? I presume I need to change the boot order? But what exactly do I do?

Thanks guys :)

Looks correct.

Connect to a monitor, and power it up.

Then enter the BIOS, set the time and date, check the boot order is dvd drive first, OCZ SSD second, disable all the others.

stick the disk in for windows and restart the PC, it should boot from the disk automatically and away you go.

Right so I will boot into the BIOS and sort the stuff out. I presume I can check all the hardware in it to make sure there are no problems? Then before I install the OS I think I will sort out the cables because it's going to involve unplugging things.

Thanks for all the help :)

EDIT: Also the other thing is the RAM is obviously in different slots to what it says, so I hope that's ok =/

Ram will be fine, you got it in matching coloured slots for the dual channel to work.

Theres not much to check in the BIOS, the fact the PC starts and is giving you a display is the important bit.

Yer that's what I thought it's just the motherboard manual that worries me. It says to ensure a successful bootup have the RAM in DIMM 1. But yer hopefully it will be fine!

@J-FRO: That's cool hope it goes well :) What parts are you going with?

I've got an i5 2500k, also purchased the GD65 & Hyper 212+ combo when it was £125, using my current OCZ ModXstream 600W, 6950 twin frozr III, 4GB XMS3, an extra 4 case fans, zalman z9+ case, 750GB HDD and a corsair H50.

Want to try the H50 out, but if I'm not impressed my go with the Hyper 212+ and see what sort of temps I get difference and stick with the best one once I've OC'd to 4.4/4.5Ghz.

Oh cool sounds sweet :P Was going to go with the 6950 but wanted to keep costs down!

Right I am just about to power on now, first chance I have had. Anything I should do before I power on? Or is it just ready to go then? Worried for the components! :P

Thanks guys :)

Right well it has not blown up yet. Its got to the screen CPU or memory changed. Press F1 to enter setup or F2 to load default values and continue. I presume setup?

Thanks!

EDIT: Olivier exactly what I did! :P
