New computer build.

Nice setup there! :D

IPS all the way I say.

With most TN's there tends not to be a huge difference between them, check the reviews and the ghosting...not that there will be any at all to be honest....

just out of interest y tn in the end? Cheaper for identical the only reason? Because that LG is damn cheap and I cant imagine a decent TN being a lot cheaper than that??

Hmm can't decide! The LG does look nice but I have heard many mixed reviews about gaming on the LG IPS. I really do want identical monitors, and the reason why I am still thinking TN is because a lot of people seem to say that gaming on a high end TN is definitely better than on IPS.

Thanks guys!

Also another question guys, as I have ordered the i5 2500k with the Hyper 212 CPU cooler. Should I use the thermal paste with the CPU cooler? I have got some arctic silver but its been sitting around for a while!

And what is the best way of applying the paste for this processor? Just a pea size amount in the middle of CPU and let the heatsink spread it? Or should I spread it myself?

Thanks!

Yes, like a small little pea, big grain of rice. there are a few vids on youtube. One showing the spread using a transparent acrylic surface. I suppose you can practise on two transparent flat surfaces. You dont need much pressure and the spread would be something like a 10p coin. As long as it stays on the CPU.

What screens you going for? Note that to drive three displays (2 monitors and a HD TV), you'd have to go through displayport. Did you received the parts?

Right I shall bare that in mind! And just to double check when you say spread, that's the spread from the heatsink? I leave the pea sized amount and let the heatsink spread?

Still haven't decided on screens, there is just way to many and it's making my brain hurt! I was thinking of making a monitor thread in the section on OC?

Are you sure that I would need to go through display port? Is that not if they are all on at once? I just want to have the monitors on together then switch to the TV as an external display.

Last part came today (the case) just about to fit the PSU! I have a picdture of the parts but don't think I can attach it without a 3rd party website?

Thanks :)

Has to be display port for a third display im afraid but if u unplug one of the monitors then you can go ahead and use the tv without using the display port....

Thats how they recommend it, the paste will spread itself....dont pull it off to check though as this will cause air bubbles which will effect cooling.

IPS man!!! :P U2311H hahaha as I said with TN's not a lot to seperate the vast majority really, go read some monitor recommendation threads...u r far from the first to ask :P

Right that sucks but thanks! Guess I could have one monitor in the display port, one in dvi and the TV in the HDMI?

And I am still considering that monitor just can't decide!

One more thing guys I am installing the PSU and the manual reads correct mounting is with fan side top cover facing the mainboard? My case is cm 690 and there is the vent at the bottom the case. Should the PSU side with the fan be facing up or down?

Thanks!

EDIT: My guess would be fan downwards? Facing vent?

Thats a good question I have no idea! I really hope I can somehow have it connected though. I bought a bluray drive especially!

One little thing when I turned the PSU over a small White plastic screw looking thing fell out. Does this matter?

Thanks!

I really don't have any idea what it could be, can you take a picture of it?

You could try looking at reviews of that PSU at Jonnyguru or Hardwaresecrets and seeing if you can spot it in there picture of the guts of the PSU, kind of like a wheres Wally?

use Photobucket or image shack.

You will be given a code for the picture looking like this -

so copy the hole thing including the brackets.
