It will close, it is as scary as you could possibly imagine, it does take force, if your use to AMD simple solution then its a complete shock.

All in fine now the ram and then the paste and cooler...or the ram after the cooler if its a smaller cooler...

Thanks, for the RAM I was originally a bit concerned that it would not fit with the Hyper 212 but from what I see it will be able to into slots 1 and 3. But apparently for sandybridge it is recommended to have in slots 2 and 4 I was told. But the mobo says 1 and 3. Which one should I go with?

Also for the heatsink I presume I have the airflow arrow on the fan of the heatsink pointing towards the fan at the back of the case?

Yes you need the hot air to go straight to the exhaust fan.

mm good question, cant remember on the ram, can check when i see my pc at home....
But shouldnt hurt it to go in 1 3 for now...can always change later...

Check the fins on the fan and make sure they are the same way round as the one on the outlet...then you got cold air pushing through and then sucked right out...

looks right yes...obviously it will be straight when you screw it on

should have an arrow on the fan outer casing pointing towards the back of the case.

Yep thats what I have got, just fitting the backplate of the heatsink to the underside of the mobo. Man it's fiddly!

Ok the heatsink is installed but looks like I was wrong. I cannot install the fan with the RAM in positions 1 and 3. So hopefully it will work in slots 2 and 4 like I have previously been told!

Heatsink is attached, I dont think it matters though? 2 and 4 should be fine?

I have just put the fan onto the cooler properly and here is what it looks like trying to put the RAM into slot 1.

With a push it might click in, but is this angle too much to put it in slot one?

Also is it ok to twist the fan on the cooler round as the fan connector is on the otherside?

Thanks for the response, that's what I have done now. Another quick thing, I am just placing the mobo into the case. Trying to fit it into the I/O plate. What are the metal tabs on the panel sitting above the connectors on the mobo?

Should they be over the top or should they be inside the connector like a tab?

They should be on the top of the silver boxes etc.

Look at the actual rear and check the ports are free of obstruction from these things.

From that pic it looks like you got it right.

Right it looks OK, just wanted to make sure before I screw down. One other little thing, there are also some smaller tabs to the side of the connectors are these just meant to touch them slightly? I don't think they are supposed to be bent around?

Also I presume its correct for some of the connectors to be set back a little, not completely flush with the panel?

Last but not least my current progress, I will tuck the PSU cables behind the back once the motherboard is screwed down, wanted to wait till I could stand the case up. Also does anybody (especially stulid because I know he has done it) know what I should do about the fan cable on the left hand side below. Should I trail it upwards and underneath the fan? Its because there is a cutout at the top of the case which I think it could go through?

Yep, the little "fingers" just touch the rear in-between the opening of the connectors, as long as the crew holes line up and your not inserting a screw at an angle then the gap between the ports and the I/O shield plate is nothing to worry about.

trail the cable up if ur pluggin into the mobo down and tuck under the gfx card ...between the case and the pci slot...
