New Dell 1730 Dual 8800GTX beast

Hi,

Bad news. Just had an e-mail from Dell and my estmated delivery has been been moved from the 9th to the 22nd April! Great nice of them to let me know a whole 3 days before I was expecting it! Surely they must have known for longer than 3 days if its been delayed 2 weeks! I am tempted to cancel especially after reading about Dell's job cuts and customer service lately but I got a real good deal so im in two minds about it.

Damn that sucks, guess I'll be getting my delayed email tomorrow then since it was estimated to be delivered on 10th. What spec did you go for?
 
Well I phoned Dell today and the CS monkey said that mine is in production and should still be delivered on 10th, but given the fact everyone elses seems to be getting delayed I'm still not convinced. Will be fuming if it gets delayed now given I have contacted them 4 times to check its not going to be delayed!

I'd phone them now again to see if you get the same answer from another monkey :eek:
 
Well did my daily check of the web this morning expecting the usual 'Pre-Production' screen.

"Your order has been dispatched as of 08/04/2008"

Anyone been able to get their service tag to work on the dell website? Trying to find out which screen I have ended up with but keeps saying the service tag is invalid.

Sent a nasty email to my account manager and low and behold mine shipped today too :) Brok I get the same invalid tag so I guess they havent entered them into the system yet. I guess we will find out tomorrow :)

Bought a 1730, went for the dual 8700's though, 4gb ram and upgraded CPU, lovely machine :)

Just need to find a laptop bag to fit the thing now

u can find this out in the device manager properties for the display, look under the details tab and under hardware id for your plug and play monitor, there should be a code, I aint sure what codes mean what monitor atm though but I know I have a Samsung.
