Hi mate!

Installed XP on my 1730 and ended up getting 200 points lower in 3Dmark 06...

Plus it was a pain in the arse installing XP...

You need to slipstream XP with Dell raid drivers.

Dell Audio driver wouldn't install with SP3, Only <SP2

You lose your Dell XPS wallpaper unless you back it up.

The only reason I installed XP was because Vista seemed to give me a ping spike every 60secs on the dot due to it searching for wireless connections, XP solved this for me^^

It is quiet, quick and really cool looking as well (pimp my laptop or what)

I can't believe how cool this thing runs!

Got a XPS m170 here with a 2.13Ghz/6800 Ultra...Playing CSS the fan comes on full blast which is really loud!

Played Crysis couple days ago and could barely hear the fans after about an hour of playing on the m1730!

Best laptop I've ever brought IMO and should last a long time to come!
 
Got mine 2 weeks ago and i love it, but it was slightly scratched:eek:


Should have asked for compenstaion 2 weeks ago, but i guess its too late:mad:

Mine was in Phase 2 for 2 weeks then in 1 day it went to Phase 5(Shipped)

Just wait and see:)

I've got a 1525 arriving with mine too, gotta have something mobile as well. :p

I've not run 3dmark but I noticed a BIG performance increase in games when I went to XP (machine came with vista x32 ultimate).

You'll need to download the modified inf's, which are available on those pages.

v174.51 are out, but avoid them as they're very buggy (missing control panel etc)

umm when i use those they send all my whites yellow, I'm on Vista btw.
 
I have one of these on order since 24th March, estimated delivery is 10th April. The status didnt move from Pre-Production for a week so I contacted them to see if there was a problem.

They told me there is a problem with their online order status tool and my laptop was actually In Production (stage 3), so if you arent seeing movement on the web it may be worth an email/phonecall to get the true status of your order.
 
Mine sat in production for a week.

The dial in status said order processing.

The tool then just went straight to shipped.

Took forever... :-)

Worth it in the end though.....

Thanks for that as mine has said pre-production for like a week now and I was starting to get annoyed lol I am still hoping for it this week. I ordered on the 20th March and expected delivery is 9th april. As there are a few of us waiting post here when they arrive guys :)

I emailed Dell again for an update, apparently they are having supply problems but still hope to hit the estimated delivery dates quoted. So doesnt look like we will be getting them early :/

Hi,

Yeah I was chasing up the dell account manager I bought mine through also. Funny how when your thinking about buying they are all over you like a rash but once youve commited they go into hiding. All he sent me was a link to the web page which I had already told him I had seen and tells me its been in pre-production since the 20th March :rolleyes:

I also heard that they have supply issues in the states due to a lack of the 9 cell batteries whether this is affecting us im not too sure.
