New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

I've been keeping an eye on hotukdeals.com. Someone managed to get a quote of £278.77 today but now the vast majority of sales reps won't offer anything more than a small discount.
It doesn't help that the web chat is often unavailable from time to time. It's still possible to get a quote at the heavily discounted rate but now requite a lot of luck to get the right sales rep.

If this kind of discount hunting is on HotUKdeals then it looks like we might all lose the orders if they decide not to honor them or play the delay tactics. There is no way Dell or anyone else is gonna take a hit like this if 1000's of people are trying it on and getting a huge discount.
 
I went on live chat this morning only to be quickly told the best price is on the website.

Ten minutes later I tried again but on the business chat page. Just asked for a discount and was offered £290 immediately. No haggling.

Delivery is allegedly the 19th but we'll see

My order from Thursday finally went trough so I can see full order details.
The system automatically assumes the item is in stock and will ship the day after ordering, this is what the estimated delivery date is based off.
I have an estimated delivery date for the 18, not a hope of that happening.
 
There does seem to be one shop with stock left in the UK 23 units apparently? not surprising really given the initial price they're asking £478.15 Incl. VAT + Delivery Charge £6.95

Also states on their website that they price match guarantee although it's spelt wrong lol

not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to their site or not? so hint is - the people are Eccentric Professionals that work there.

Just spoke to them and they will only price match people that have a receipt for the non A version
So no good to me unless some of you guys wanna share an invoice with us for the older version?

this is what they said.
thank you for contacting us. Our product code is 210-AVWE (s2721dgf) version which is different from the order and invoice you have shared. The one you have ordered from Dell is 210-AXRQ (s2721dgfa) version

Not much chance of that I'm afraid. I spoke to customer care this morning and was told the factory has put the order on hold. I have a case open which is supposed to find out why there is a hold up. I suspect it's due to a parts shortage so everyone's order will be delayed. I ordered on the 7th Nov and it has been delayed 4 times already.
 
So you have an item that's already with the courier and will be delivered tomorrow but the order is still open and you could cancel if you wanted?
Sounds messy if this happens to a large number of customers.

When you cancel your order with Dell it doesn't cancel immediately, it must go through some sort of checking process (automated or manual) before the order is actually cancelled. I'd guess if he tried to cancel now it would be denied. Still, pretty disappointing that orders aren't updating correctly.
