*** New Design 2012 iMac 21.5" & 27" ***

What are you running atm?

I'm using a PC but I've been wanting to make the jump to a Mac for sometime.

I was going to buy an iMac earlier this year, just after the redesign but family life took over. When I revisited the idea I decided it was better to wait it out for the Haswell spec bump.

Just ordered a new 27" imac with gtx780, 16gb ram, 1gb fusion drive as my new work machine.

Really quite excited, an update from an old home built pc ive been using for a few years.

No no no no no !!!

8G ram and upgrade that yourself ! There is a tiny panel at that back you can open with a biro, its as easy as swapping batteries in your remote.

I put in 32G of Ram in mine, cost me £110 !

Its not really worth the hassle for the sake of saving 50 quid or whatever.

It's around £100 actually. From OcUK you can pick up a GeIL 16GB kit for £100 (possibly find it for less elsewhere) and you'd still have the 8GB from the machine itself, which you'd be able to sell elsewhere for around £45.

I think it's mad not to cancel it for £50, let alone £100, but it's your money to waste.

Has it been confirmed the ram is still swappable on the new iMac, it wouldn't surprise me if it is soldered on now.

EDIT Just checked and it is still user upgradable on the 27" model.
