New essential Android apps thread

Have you tried Palabre?

+1. Easily the best reader available. I honestly don't have a single major complaint about it. The UI is customisable and one of the best designed readers out there and it's fast. My only slight niggle is that a recent update seems to have slowed down the content loading a little bit, though I don't know if it's my imagination. I just remember it being really fast to load when I first started using it, and now it takes a tad longer. Doesn't really detract from it though.

quick fyi - wife got a 80% of data warning the other day, seems the culprit was facebook pre-caching videos on mobile network, there's a setting to switch it to wifi only be seems to be set off by default - 500mb wasted on videos in her news feed she didn't watch!

Read his post, it's not relating to videos auto playing, that is already off on my phone. His post relates to the app still caching those videos when on 3G/4G instead of only wiif

No, that's exactly the setting he's on about.

With it on, they pre-download and auto play when you scroll past. With it off it doesn't download them until you click play.

Anyone using Textra? Started using it yesterday and it's much nicer than the default messaging app. However whenever I finish sending a text, the app closes and I have to open the app again to see if the message sent or read other messages. Had a look in settings but can't see anything.

Must be a bug, works so well for me I deleted the stock messaging app. :)

Been using Textra for ages and it's what the default app should have been. Haven't encountered that bug tho!

Are you talking about replying directly from the pull down notification? That's how it behaves iirc.

What's a good Twitter app? Not fussed on the official one. Used Tweetbot on iOS but it doesn't seem to be on Android? Need to manage 3 acc's if that makes a difference?

I use Fenix. It isn't free, but it takes the best bits of Falcon Pro (similar and also very good) and just builds on it. And you can manage multiple accounts on it, though I've not tried it.

Give it a go for 10 mins and if you don't like it, get the refund instead. :)

I use PF Voicemail+ for my voicemail. My dialer, sms and whatsapp will show a number by their icons if there's a new call, sms or message. Is there any way to get PF Voicemail+ to do the same or any clever workaround for this?

I'm using an unrooted note4.
