New essential Android apps thread

with the new google photos app now on the latest version of android, when you take a photo/video, what eventually happens when your phone fills up? i've just been away and filled my nexus 5. as the app only came out while i was away i didn't want to delete any thing until i got back and made sure it was all backed up on my pc which it was. i then went into quickpic and deleted the files, all remaining on google photos and backed up on my pc. however if google photos is now the default app which can be used as the main image gallery, how do you remove a photo from device without removing it from your account, or should it automatically do this? which it didn't btw.

My in-call volume on my Nexus 6 is pretty low, albeit with very good quality. Is there a tweak to raise it a little without killing the quality? It's rooted with a custom kernel.

Curious about this as well, I would prefer the call volume to be a tad louder on my M7 running GPe, custom kernel.

This is my first look at this thread and got to 20 pages and went cross eyed so I will have to ask and hope it hasn't come up before-

Has anyone got a garage door app and if so did you have to buy the bluetooth dongle that needs to be fitted to opener unit -

I can only seem to find them in USA at $49 which isn't a problem but wondered if they were on sale here in UK.

Thanks

Dave

Every so often I try the 'other' keyboards out there but haven't found anything to replace Swype yet, it's prediction accuracy is just spooky, and it's very fluid to use, with plenty of customisation. The only thing that I would like is a separate top row for numbers on it.

The cursor row and number row are probably the main reason I use Swiftkey.

I've used Swiftkey for 4 phones in a row but when I got the Galaxy note Edge it just didn't perform well on it, switched to Fleksy since it was free on my Amazon account from a giveaway ages ago and been using it ever since. Took a couple of weeks for it to get used to my common corrections but since then it's been great and honestly better than Swiftkey was.

press menu (top left)> select device folders> select photos you want to delete> click 3 dots (top right)> delete device copy.

No. By double tapping notification on lock screen most of the time. Have reinstalled so will see what happens.

Yes, it behaves the same way from the lockscreen too. Never really noticed because I have a pin lock. You could send a message to the developers. They seem quite active and responsive.

Any ideas why my Play Store doesn't update / install apps when the screen is turned off after manually starting updates?

I have Greenify installed but I don't snooze the play store so I can't think what else it could be.

I'm not really a smartphone gamer any more but recently installed Two Dots and find it highly addictive!
