New essential Android apps thread

I loved that until I got to a level which seems (to me) almost impossible, so I've not played it since. (Only around level 80+)

I'm not really a smartphone gamer any more but recently installed Two Dots and find it highly addictive!

Yea, good game that.

I reckon you'd like Trainyard (Noodlecake Studios) as well. Completely different in it's approach but complex in it's simplicity as Two Dots.

Been trying out some of the Amazon App daily freebies and discovered the highly addictive 'Earn or Die' series. Probably a bit of a late commer to the game but it's such a brilliantly simple idea and really addictive! Ticks a lot of boxes too!

CCleaner is good for cleaning app caches from one place, even though I tend to this manually from time to time, caches still build up!

The image thumbnail cache is the biggest culprit! Almost 4GB of internal space reclaimed in an instant.

Google really need to sort out the thumbnail cache thing, it should never get that big. Must be loads of people who think they've used their device's entire storage capacity when realistically at least a third of it is occupied by rubbish.

Anyone aware of an Rsync app that doesn't require root?

Replaced my note 3 with an Xperia Z3 and im holding off the urge to root for the moment but really miss using rsync as transfers are so much faster compared to sftp (150kbs vs 4mbps or so)

Edit: just swapped to ftp and speeds are much more acceptable (3.5mbps over 4g)

Been switching between Dolphin and Atlas as they both offer adblocking, but Dolphin's performance really holds it back and while Atlas feels great thanks to webview being seperate, it doesn't offer bookmark sync. Firefox with ABP/uBlock offers the best adblocking, but Gecko feels so sluggish compared to Webview/Blink based browsers on Android.

Then I came across this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-nochromo-wild-browser-appears-t3130776

It's based on Chromium so if you're comfortable with Chrome, you'll have no problems using this as the UI is pretty much the same. The adblocking is not as powerful as the other solutions but it does the job well enough. This browser pretty much became my daily driver now.

i have a problem with the official twitter app, it lags so much its becoming unsuable

Phone is Xiaomi Mi4 snapdragon [email protected], 3gigs of ram etc, high end specs right there. (i had the same behaviour with an S5 btw)

What makes scratch my head is that when i clear the cache of the app it behaves as it should be and on par with iOS speed. after a couple of hours and when cache has been rebuilt it lags again.

Any ideas?

I see Pushbullet has been updated to enable full SMS conversations. I've updated on my phone but the version on my Mac seems to be up to date. I can't figure out how to see SMSs on my computer though?

Edit: It seems us Mac users havent got the update yet :(

Edit2: Using the Chrome extension for Mac works fine. Schweet!

Does anyone know what has happened to imgur / imageshrink lite?

I used to use imageshrink to upload images from my phone to imgur however since the update of imgur the two don’t seem to be working together anymore?
