New essential Android apps thread

Oh yer all mine is backed up on dropbox / google but it's free and not intrusive (for now...) so why not!

I wonder how much backed up data is duplicated :p No harm in double / triple backing :D

It's the talking back home that is the big question mark with QuickPic, hence why the re-signed old version was created. It's a matter of principal, I don't want an app talking back home when there's no option to turn off such a "feature".

Because the app doesn't even work properly, I installed it out of interest:

Also, do you think they would approve an official move to android app on the App Store? :p

Hey guys,

I had an email last night from Cerberus - anyone else using them? I have to say the app has got me out out of one or too jams in the past 18 months, so for me it works.

Anyway, after 2017 they are no longer to offer free licences, I think if bought now a lifetime licence costs about 5 Euros? What I want to know is, do you think it's worth it or are there better alternatives out there?

Thanks.

I guess I would ask what is done for you that the built in system doesn't do and do you need that element?

I think I paid lifetime at some point. I like the take a photo of someone putting in the wrong unlock code, is there anything else though?

That's the point isn't it though? The fact they inserted a back door that has been observed sending data back to Cheetah servers without permission or any notification says a lot about the future of the app and their business practice.

Either way, the old version was near enough perfect, so personally I will continue using that and never update.

What mrk said!

I tried piktures for a few days but found myself getting annoyed with it so installed the resigned old version of quickpic. The only problem is.... we won't be able to get any of the new features (if anything better/good comes with further updates) and support for future versions of android with quickpic.

I only use it to arrange gallery folders, move images around from internal to SD and other folders so for me, the extra features are useless anyway as if I want to cloud manage pics or vids I use sharing intents directly into Solid Explorer – The pros of Android eh :D

Long shot.. but does anyone remember the name of the icon pack which has the name of the app instead of an icon? It came in both black and white surround.

Had it before and for the life of me can't find it :(

Can someone advise the best app (or even way to do it without if possible?) to use to disable / remove un-needed apps which don't appear on your list in the App Store.

Used to use a Cheetah Mobile one, not any more though!

Thanks

Whats the best TV tracking app these days, for tracking watched, unwatched upcoming etc.

I'm currently using TV Show Favs, used Seriesguide, was ok. Anything else worth looking at?

Depends on the version of android but I'm sure you can disable apps within android itself now.

TV Calendar but I don't think it's an app.
Looks great in a normal web browser and doesn't look too bad on a smartphone.
