New essential Android apps thread

So QuickPic being bought out by Cheetah Mobile has resulted in the app now calling home. To stop this madness, folks at xda have released the last version as resigned in order for it not to auto update from the play store.

Also I've installed the new Clarity Keyboard Beta off the play store. The way it autocorrecrs seems very clever and more accurate to correct and undo corrections than both SwiftKey and Google keyboard. It doesn't show floating words by design and at first appears minimal, but is complex in use. Looking forward to seeing what they do with it.

It took me a day to get used to how it works and now I'm churning out text like someone on the john with bowel problems.

I decided to stick with QuickPic after I found out it will still be the same development team: https://plus.google.com/111164401852334880642/posts/3JgGUYVZL5Q

If however anything fishy starts getting added, I will move to a different gallery app. Piktures is currently my favourite alternative.

Minecraft now has native controller support. I haven't tested this with my old Xperia PLAY yet (gamepad support was removed after a while, even though the PLAY was the first device Minecraft was released on). Testing with my Moga Pro controller everything works brilliantly. Had to set the controller to mode B but it works great, you can remap buttons as well which makes it handy.

Actually thinking about it I don't even know why I keep my PLAY on me, the Moga solved my gamepad issues :p.

Using an older app with no permission for access to internet. Have frozen its market access and no longer allowing any updates to be performed. Backed up using Titanium and put it into dropbox

Shame people are just giving it 1 star because its Apple. When I moved I would have loved to been able to take my SMS with me. Until now it's not been possible.

I believe a few people use QuickPic, they're giving away 1,000GB of cloud storage when you share invitation codes (you both get 1,000GB).

Mines - jc7152 if anyone wants it.

I think I'll stick with Drive/OneDrive/Dropbox :p. Not sure I trust Cheetah's cloud storage.

Why can't you trust Cheetah?

I was using Piktures and switched to this after hearing about it on here and it's much better.

Because it's just an enticement. QuickPic will be covered in ads in no time at all. Whether their cloud storage is trustworthy or not, do you actually think it will remain free?

I'm not interested in their Cloud storage.

Ok, they have form for plastering ads all over their apps then, if they do that I'm off.
