New essential Android apps thread

Hi guys,

I'm after a decent music playing app to play my 25gb or so of mp3 :)

I've come from an iphone so I'm not after anything particularly fancy, just something that looks okay, displays album art and works. The last part is probably the most important.

I've tried a few free ones (3 Cubed) and gone through all the stock bloat but I'm still not happy. Something free would be a bonus but I don't mind paying if its good ;)

Thanks.

I think Google Play Music is the best free app nowadays. In terms of paid apps, poweramp and n7player are both very good - I think both have trial versions too.

This. There's different themes as well for it. KitKat theme looks great on it but if you miss iOS there's an iOS theme too.
Ha, I don't miss iOS in the slightest - jumping to Android is the best thing I've ever done, phone-wise. The Apple music player just seemed so much more accessible compared to what came bundled on my Z1 :p

Thanks for the recommendations guys, I'll check them out now!

Does an app exist that will turn off needing a password etc on the lockscreen when I'm a certain area. I hate it being on, but it's useful when other people may have access to my phone.

Does the Google Now hotword detection break music playback for anyone else?

I've noticed that when I have it enabled so that it's listening, opening Google Now mutes media playback, but doesn't unmute once I close it. The only way to get it back is to restart my phone

I just tried this and didn't see this issue. Play Music, went to home screen and scrolled left. Music continued to play.
