New essential Android apps thread

I think there's quite a few apps out there that do this for all notifications. I just searched on the store quickly and found this one, but i'm sure there's others that might do it better.

Installed, but doesn't seem to work at all! Playing with it for hours now. Nothing. Shall have a look. Thanks.

Nice! Love a bit worms!

Does a SMS app exist like the Facebook heads thing? I know you can use the app but I'd rather a standalone app for texts. It's really good, especially when watching Netflix etc as you don't need to exit it.

Something like Hoverchat free? (used to be Ninja SMS)

hi, whats the difference between boat browser and hd boat browser?

are they both OK for phones and tablets
as i don't really want to buy both

thanks

One is designed for phones, the other for tablets. Although to be honest they both function exactly the same, so I only got the phone version one.

On the other hand I keep flipping back to Firefox, I never knew how annoying some adverts were with mobile pop ups... This time I'm using the Bluhell Firewall addon instead of ABP, and it seems to block ads just fine. Not as good as ABP, but doesn't severly slow down the starting time for FF.

Can anyone recommend a decent calendar app that has colour coding / annotation when looking in a full screen entire month view?

I'm just using the stock google calendar at the moment which has been ok until now, but the next month or so I have so much in my calendar it's hard to make heads or tails of it.
Even in the fullscreen, it just puts blue blocks on each day with no further detail, and I have to look at it at a day level to see any more info.

Ideally what I'd like to have is different colours (ie blue for day at work, green for holiday, red for something else...) whilst viewing the calendar in full screen or via a widget.

Only other request would be that it shows my google calendar and that I don't have to recreate everything - but I imagine any decent calendar app will sync like this anyway!

Personally on the desktop version I made multiple calendars for different things, with different colours (red for holidays, blue for Facebook, etc...), so it's easier to see on my phone. But then that will require you to edit these events to move them to the correct calendar.

The latest update to ES File Explorer tweaks the “Home” screen and now works nicely on large screen phones. Is really the best file manager out there.

QuickPic for photo/video management.

While it's nice to see it free and can connect with my Onedrive, it doesn't feel as solid as Google Drive. It seems when you open a document on your Onedrive, it downloads a copy, but if you opened a lot there's no way to clear all the downloads at once. I think I prefer OfficeSuite, it feels more full featured compared to Microsoft Office, not to mention it can connect to multiple cloud storages.
