New essential Android apps thread

Hi all.

does anyone know a app or tool that removes all ads from every app that has them?

i heard it is possible if your phone is rooted but not sure what app and tool allows you to do this?

Thanks in advance

Turns out I didn't have Google Keyboard installed and had AOSP keyboard for some reason.
pretty sure that (AOSP) was the default keyboard on the moto g for some reason, I had the same 'issue' and had to install the google one

Not sure if this is possible, is there an app that will automatically turn the 3g Internet off and switch to wifi connection when at home and turn the 3g back on when not near wifi connection.
My old man has just upgraded to a Nexus 5 but for some reason lowered his data usage to 1gb:confused:

When at home the phone should just automatically connect to wifi and 3g will be automatically be disabled (but not turned off), leave the wifi's range and 3g is enabled again.

To actually turn them on/off automatically you'll need something like Llama or Tasker as Swarfega says

Edit\ Also Android has a data cap feature built in if you're worried about going over: Settings > Mobile data > Limit data usage

Llama will do that.
Tasker will also do it but it's a paid app and more complex although does a lot more than llama.

thanks for these, will take a look later.

He doesn't understand the difference between wifi & 3g data and is more bothered about downloading as much games as he can whenever he wants

I've been playing Quiz Up recently, it's a great time waster.
It's basically a 7 question quiz against other people around the world, however you can choose which subject you want to play on.
There are around 450 different subjects, these could range to basic maths to Harry Potter books!

Absolutely love it, and am dominating on the Simpsons quiz :D

I can't decide if you always play people live. I know you can challenge someone and 'record' your answers, which they then go up against. I wonder if sometimes it puts you up against a recording?
