You can use the "OK Google..Note to self" voice command which integrates with Keep as well, it should ask you which notes app to use the first time you say the command.
 
Does anyone know of a decent call recording app (paid or free) that can do as stated? My niece (with a S7E) is being pestered with calls from someone and could do with an app to record these calls. There are so many on the play store I haven't a clue.

ACR works well for me, always records incoming/outgoing calls.

Ive also added the app to 'unmonitored apps' in the Android maintenance section. Just in case the system puts the app to sleep if it hasn't been used for a while.
 
I've recently migrated away from Windows Phone to a nubia M2 which has an AMOLED screen. One thing I really miss is the 'glance' feature that displays the time and basic notification data whilst the screen is off. Can anyone recommend an app to replicate this feature that does not appear to be built into the OS?

It's built into the OS, at least for the later phones (eg Pixels and Samsung). Might be just ZTE themselves not enabling it for the phone. You could check Settings -> Display and see if there's an option for "Ambient Display". If not, I remember trying this app a few years ago and it worked pretty well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.acdisplay&hl=en

Thanks, I don't have any setting for it so it seems like ZTE have half-arsed their implementation of android 6. I hope it might be enabled in a future OS update...
 
What do people use to transfer files either from or to their Android devices via wifi? I tend to use Solid Explorer either with SMB or the FTP add on but find both methods are rather slow (unless it's a problem with my SD card). Taking SD card out and using an SD card reader every time is a faff.
