New essential Android apps thread

Having now tried it out I think Google Maps is still better. This is beta though of course!

Yeah but everything on Google is a beta yet so stable it may as well not be and even the stable services chop and change every few months!

Anyone found the last couple of updates to PayPal have resulted in wakelocks? I have not even used the app in the last 8 hours and it's kept the phone awake!

I have used the report feature within Android Application Manager, as one should!

Having just got a Pebble watch the following is INVALUABLE:

Tasker
PebbleTasker
Pebble Notifier

The additional functionality you gain is HUGE! I now have fully custom Pebble notifications and can control my phone from the watch itself.

I have a Pebble menu to change phone into and out of silent modes, activate the LED for torch usage etc all without unlocking/even touching phone.

I'm going to use my unused Nexus 7 as a photo frame. What's a good digital photoframe app? I'd like it to take pictures directly from a network share rather than only those on the device. Plus it should have some sort of schedule so it turns itself on and off at given times (daydream might handle this).

Anyone have an app that let's you see a timetable for the day?
I'd like something that will show me my classes at what times and location and for the events to repeat itself every week.
Sick of looking at the photo I took of my timetable having to go through my gallery every time..

Just use the calendar? Create a new personal calendar for it and add them all? When I was at Uni I had a Google calendar with my timetable and deadlines in it (all be it synced to a Symbian phone as it was years ago).

How about Google Photos and uploading the pictures to a Google+ album? It can do Daydream but I'm not sure about the schedule bit.

You could upload your repeating timetable to google calendar then use any calendar viewer you like.

Thanks, just did this.

What's a good free transparent calendar widget, as well as a transparent email widget for an exchange account?

New Play Store version 5.0.3.1 brings new Material redesign, new icon, new animations.

L is lingering VERY near.
