New essential Android apps thread

Best lockscreen apps? For showing message details and the like?

Maybe looking for something to emulate the iOS experience, any ideas appreciated, cheers!

try dashclock widget, no idea what the iOS experience is these days (they keep seeming to nick androids features :p) but this has loads of 'plugins' available too

Is anyone using Textra? If so, is there a method of syncing it's own database (still understand why they did this) with the Android database?

Looks like a brilliant SMS app but it makes it a bit of a PITA to test or backup SMS messages :(

Pry-Fi will prevent your device from announcing all the networks it knows to the outside world, but it will still allow background scanning and automatically connecting to Wi-Fi networks. While you are not connected to a Wi-Fi network, the MAC address will constantly be pseudo-randomized, following a pattern that still makes the trackers think you are a real person, but they will not encounter your MAC address again. This will slowly poison their tracking database with useless information.

Store link - Obviously needs root but a useful app for those who don't really want to be tracked in the manner many places do these days.

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good app to SD card ...app?

My father has a small basic tablet android sm t210 and 4GB is full and looking to move apps across to hopefully make the system slightly faster I hope.

Or does anyone else have any tips/tricks to try and free the system up to make it run slightly faster?

as far as i understand having apps on the system hd or the sd card wont increase the speed the phone runs, if anything it may be slower if the sd read speed is less then the hd one. i may be wrong though but i'm 90% sure that's the case. hard drive location doesn't have anything to do with speed, as the location and size of your fuel tank doesn't have anything to do with engine speed of a car.

maybe he has bad apps on the phone?

This. Due to an SD card's slower read/write speed apps on the SD card will feel slower.

As for moving apps, if you don't have the option of doing so under settings, then you will need to be rooted first.

I would consider perhaps rooting it and using a custom ROM if you want more performance. I'm assuming the SM-T210 is the Tab 3 7.0: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3
