Personally I use Chomp after Go SMS just became a constant stream of advertising! (having said that I do install it every few months or so just to trim my conversations down to 200 messages - I wish Chomp would implement a "delete any messages over 200" option!!!)
 
Ok 1 day of using inbox and its already replaced my gmail app as my main mail interfsce... Dont know what sort of wizardry is going on in the background but its bloody brilliant. Get notifications when a family member / friend / gf emails me and silence when its marketing crap. The bundling works perfectly so far and the ui is a dream to use. If this is the sort of thing we can expect with android 5 and their material design thing then I can honestly say android is now no longer the ugly stepchild to iOS... Good work google
 
Like Gmail, its an exersize in restricting supply to increase demand. Google have no intention of preventing people getting in, they just want to make you wait long enough to post over the internet about Inbox ;). Our invites will come.

Another is QKSMS, its in Alpha but works great.

I use textra though as it works more consistently but I will probably move to QKSMS once its finished.

I recently moved from GoSMS to Hangouts, and I must admit it's great!
Always used GOSMS due to Hangouts not doing SMS a couple of years ago but I got tired of the ads popping up and didn't want to go premium.

I've used QKSMS since he launched the first version on XDA, without a doubt probably the one of the best SMS apps around, the developer is sound and actually listens to the posts on his Google community, he's added two features I've requested alone. It's defo worth a shot if you've not already tried it folks
 
Just got a Galaxy Tab Pro, any really useful apps that anyone can reommend? Just general use etc, note taking and stuff like that

Yeah Go can be a nightmare for ad's etc, Halloween , Xmas you get a graphic on screen for whatever holiday it is.

I managed to go back a version on Go, working normal now.
