New essential Android apps thread

Can anyone recommend an app that turns off mobile signal when on wifi? At home I get no signal at all and it just drains my battery. I've tried tasker but it's too complicated for me :p

Hmm... I'm not feeling Inbox. I don't like not knowing what its doing to my emails, or not knowing I have one because it deems it unimportant.

I imagine with some tweaking it would work, but unlike Google Now where the predictive stuff works brilliantly, it feels a bit off in Inbox at the moment.

Just what the heck is the Feedly devs problem? I get an email from them announcing the new version, and in just amazed to see that with more than 14,000 votes, tons of negative reviews in the App Store etc, they still won't implement offline reading? I just dont get it? That app is fantastic in every respect but I'll never use it because I do all my reading on the tube!

I do all my reading offline too

which app do you use please ? I use GReader Pro but often find I get blank images which is annoying

yet Reader+ seems to not suffer anywhere near as many blank images -but I prefer user interface of GReader Pro

I've got feedly setup with all my feeds, but I'm yet to find a decent mobile app.

Using Play Newsstand for now.

Buckster, I used Flyne for a while. Even set it up with Llama to open it (and sync) at 6am before I got up. At the end of the day it seemed stupid to have to use 3 apps to do what one should..!

As nice as Gmail 5.0 is, it only allows pull emails, no push option (at least for my .live and .outlook accounts). So I'm still using 2 different email apps :)

Sorry please elaborate not sure what you mean? all i know is im still getting my emails through my hotmail account on a frequent basis just like i were when using the default email app aswell as getting my Gmail accounts emails through..

When I set up my outlook email within GM 5.0 the sync frequency didn't allow for push (instant) only on a set time, so for example, it would only check for new emails every 15 minutes (this was the minimum IIRC?)

Most mail is pushed to your phone. Using gmail for hitmail is pull which will trigger every so often. In other words email will take longer to reach you.

Push = syncs to your phone as soon as it arrives into your inbox.

IMAP/POP3 requires the phone to check your inbox manually, so you set the sync rate (eg once per hour). This means your phone will need to wake up more to check your mail.
