New essential Android apps thread

The first question is just a demo/baseline thing. You'll get notifications when new ones are available if you've opted to receive them!

Earning money by tapping your phone screen a few times is pretty cool :)
 
Also signed up too....looks better than the ERewards survey app...I know this is essential apps, but DO NOT install this one. It rapes your battery and stops the phone from entering deep sleep.

Also, how do you actually start navigating using Google Maps????
 
Anyone using a lockscreen replacer?

Tried using Go locker and it didnt play nice at all with Nova launcher, caused nova to crash and not display anything. had to access the settings via the task bar on the lock screen.

if anyone is using one that works well with nova then let me know. I know they have their own but its another couple quid.
 
Last time I used Go Locker was with Nova as well, but that was years back and it worked fine. Started having problems with Go though so moved to Widgetlocker which I loved, it's got an insane amount of options but development seems to have grinded to a halt, probably for thr same reason as Nova.

This is quite irritating, I find. My N7 has it but my HO doesn't. The lack of EQ is the only thing that's stopping me from using it on my phone.

Are there any good EQ apps out there? Does anyone know?
 
EQ apps are only really going to work if you're rooted.

Uninstalled both updates, cleared the cache for both and then updated again. Doing this seems to have fixed battery drain.
 
Anyway of getting Emoji for everything like on I phones? I've got the GoSms app and Emoji but it only works for texts not twitter etc.

Android has universal ones anyway but installing 3rd party ones doesn't mean those you are messaging will see the same icons, they'll just see default equivalent ones for their phone. Just use normal text based smiley faces and let the app translate that for relevance based on the app being used.

Uh, that's quite a lot. Other than the mandatory one when I installed the app a few weeks ago, I've only had one other. Very odd, but presumably it's to do with your Google search behaviour etc because the survey I got asked me about who'd I'd booked a holiday/flight with in the past, just a day or two after I was searching for hotels and flights.

i think that's coincidence more than anything.
 
Is GMail still the best email app for Android? I have a purchased domain address, Hotmail (Outlook) and GMail addresses, oh and work Exchange too
 
Depends how you want to manage your email. I use Gmail for my gmail and hotmail (retrieves the mail), then use the stock email app to handle my exchange account.
