New Gaming Rig Advice..

Look at YouTube videos on how to remove a motherboard battery - and pick one that would best suit your battery and preferred method.

I'm hesitant to describe how...
Haha I'm hesitant to try anything now. Like I said before when you said damaging the motherboard, it would just be the CMOS pins damaged right?

How long had it been looping/restarting for when you posted the first time you placed the memory in?

Before I noticed your post
The first time I put the memory in after the battery reset and all the time before that it would start up, 10 seconds later go off then restart. On the third restart it would appear with the screen I posted above as well as my mouse and keyboard lighting up then it would go round in circles.

Now it's literally starting up, staying on for a second, turning off, starting back up again, turning off...

No I mean the very first time you put the memory in - how long did you let it loop for before posting?
The new memory? The very first time it just kept restarting like the first example I gave above (getting to blank screen on 3rd time). I gave it like 2 minutes of doing it before I turned it off.

I've found someone who had exactly the same problem as you - and he had changed his BIOS from IDE to ACHI and then a few restarts later he had a blue screen with just the UEFI logo

Well that sounds familiar... It's exactly what I did today and exactly what was happening with the restarts. But now it's not even getting that far.

This short restart has been happening since I turned the power on from the switch at the back (by the power cable) and not the power button. I had it switched to off when I pressed the power button so it didn't start (didn't realise it was switched off at back) flicked the switch then it powered up and started doing this short restart.

Check the kettle lead is firmly plugged in
It is and that is brilliant that you've found someone with my exact problem, at least we have a lead now! Yeah I do I think but I'm going to have to stop now. Got a very grumpy girlfriend upstairs who was meant to have my attention tonight and I've spent 3 hours on my computer.. oops.

Thanks very much for your help Plec and patience. Just had a final go of making sure everything is plugged in as correct but still getting the short restarts. If I unplug the hard drives how is it going to boot?

Go and keep your GF company - certainly more fun than this!

I'll finish my paper - not quite so much fun as entertaining a GF.

Bloody PC's eh! Haha bless her, I told her it would be a 10 minute job..

Good work on the multi tasking by the way, very impressive!

I'm just concerned now about the short restarts and why it's changed to doing that. I haven't buggered the power supply somehow have I?
