New Gaming Rig Advice..

You should bench some of your games for comparison.

Don't be disappointed if there's not much improvement as the chip will come into its own with future games and further optimisation. But it would be interesting for comparison purposes in a mainstream setup.

Members and reviewers talk a lot about the smoothness of gameplay with the 1700 - so look out for that too (probably the most significant benefit for you).

Planning on it. I know I wont see great gains to start with but it's just nice knowing I have the best I can afford and it should hopefully improve and improve over time.

Smooth is my main thing mate as you know so that's great to hear.

Shut down and unplug etc... and install the CPU.

Clear the CMOS.

Plug back in etc..

Then boot to BIOS and load optimised defaults and reapply your manual settings. Save and exit - reboot.

Back in 15 - unless you have a quick question?

Just out of interest, why are we clearing the CMOS?
It's not totally necessary - I do it so the BIOS completely forgets it had the other CPU installed (belt and braces)

It theory it should slot right in - you can choose.

You can always clear the CMOS after the reboot if it bulks...
