New Gaming Rig Advice..

How much do you think I should put my i5 3570k up for? Comes with the heat sink but no original packaging.
That's a tough one.

For example remember how much the z77/z68 boards were selling for on the bay? Look at the MM price for this bundle - Clicky

Perhaps £50 if you're lucky - but start at £60?

Again look at this thread - Clicky for comparison.

It's really depreciated since Ryzen came out unfortunately.

If you look at the board prices you can see why i was so desperate for you to reach the MM.

EDIT: You may get more on the bay. As no one on the forums would have paid the bay prices for the z77s in the MM forum.

Which one was I looking at before? Do you think 1440p would be to much for these Alpha games I love though?
No, the relatively poor FPS or stuttering/glitches that you experience in those games is down to poor optimisation. (I doubt you get 'relatively' poor FPS - unless it's a monumentally crappy Early Access game.)

The GTX 1070 is wasted on a 1080p panel - you're throwing away £s of FPS. Your Ryzen 1600 combined with the GTX 1070 will munch it's way through 1440p gaming. Plus the experience will be very smooth with Gsync.

Look up some YouTube clips of Ryzen 1500/1600 coupled with GTX 1070 gaming at 1440p - you'll be very pleased.

EDIT: Great result on the CPU!

Yeah that is true, once they finally get out of early access hopefully it'll all be good. DayZ has had a very nice update by the way, they've re done all the vegetation and stuff, look up 0.62 overview on Youtube. What was the IPS panel one I was looking at before?

And yeah pretty happy with that, just have to figure out how to securely ship it now. Trusting someone is sending them an email through it right? Never used this feature before haha.

It was that monitor.

I'm getting confused with another forum member - i was discussing/recommending the 27" IPS version (Don't look at it!!!).

You might think I'm crazy Plec, but as I have some more money available I was thinking of getting the 1700 and returning the 1600, it's my last day that I can return it and there's something niggling at me that if I can afford it I should go for the 1700. Have I gone mad?

The 1700 is a great CPU (it will probably be the one i buy) - are you considering streaming?

:D:D:D

I just don't want to regret anything you know? If I can afford the 1700 I might as well go for that right?

Also, I have streamed in the past and may do it the future so yeah.

Haha it isn't, do you have any reasons to convince me other wise :p

If you have the cash not really.

There's marginal gains to be had in a few games with the 1700 but this will increase with further software optimisation and the implement of more cores in future releases. But keep in mind game developers still have their heads firmly coded around INTEL and 4 cores as this is the predominant platform of most PCs (or will be). So they will be coding games to cover the most common denominator for a while to come - but hopefully add more core features along side these.

Having said that the games that do make use of more cores really do excel plus you can game and do more things in the background with the extra cores (second screens are great) - and if you are thinking of streaming the the 1700 really will come into its own. Its performance/results have been fairly impressive from my limited reading in this area...

Boils down to money as your present CPU when clocked is the equivalent of the i7 6800k - and this is still a mighty CPU selling for £350. Keeping in mind you got your 1600 for the bargain price ~£200? Fantastic bang for buck...

Obviously, i don't know your full financial situation (nor do i need to :)) - and you've bought a great bang for buck CPU in the 1600 that should last you a considerably long time. But if after reading the above you still feel you want to upgrade go for it. Sometimes upgrades don't have to make sense as long as it's not putting you in financial difficulty and you enjoy the satisfaction of the potential power to be unlocked even if you're not able to utilise it fully yet.

So, what's it to be?..
