New GMMK Pro - mechanical keyboard

Got my GMMK Pro Iso on Saturday, just got around to lubing the remainder of my 62g Zeal Aqua Zilents (although half still need the KDBFANS Switch films), and have put it all together today.

Overall impressions are good, although clearly needs some modding to get the most out of it. Needs more give on the plate, so will probably add some extra gaskets as a starter, before looking at some other options based on the multitide of youtube videos around on the subject.

The stabs are massively overlubed and sticky, but since I cant find any c3 stabs in stock anywhere, I will have a go at cleaning them up and modding to see if I can get them to be acceptable for now. I did have some joy with my previous gmmk keyboard stabs with bandaid mods and proper lubing, so fingers crossed.

Main issue I have currently is the my keycaps. My Tai Hao set does not have the correct modifiers so running some mismatched keys currently, but a strangly a number of the keys are not gripping properly (if I turn the keyboard upside down about 12 fall out).

Anyone have any advice for an instock uk iso keycap set from anywhere?

I ended up using a set of HK gaming keycaps in the mean time as my other set aren't due until next year. They are okay the only issue is the modifiers left of space, the set doesn't have the short ctrl and alt but they have basic Fn1 and Fn2 keys which can be used and don't bother me as much as I expected. None of my keycaps have fallen off, they are really tight with my boba u4's.

Not sure if it is my Zilents, didn't have the issue with my old Gateron silent whites.

I have a set of HK Gaming Double shot pbt puddings, but really not a fan of these as the lettering is iffy to say the least, and its not an ISO-UK Set.

Might test to see how well it fits as a stop gap...

Wondering if I am going to have to bite the bullet and look at a GMK group buy. Probably Glorious will release an ISO set for the GBPTs, although I saw mixed reviews of these.

What keycaps are others using if they went for the GMMK Pro ISO?

Honestly, when it comes to caps I think that they’re the centrepiece of a custom keeb, and there’s no getting around the fact that the nice sets are group buys or private sales.

The former takes a time investment, the latter a financial investment, but either way it’s an investment. Especially if like me, you use one all day for work – these are the tools of my trade, and if I were a chippy I’d buy good tools too.

I think if you’re spending £200+ on a barebones and switches, it’s worth heading over to mechmarket and finding something you love and paying the money for it.

Just my two pence.

For anyone interested, I understand that any of the Drop Artifact set should fit (might have to mix up the 1u moidifiers on the right)

But, it's almost impossible to find a black on white PBT set with UK ISO... $53 + any fees from Drop

Not sure if I'm allowed to post the link, but speicifically: Artifact Bloom Series Keycap Set: Black on White + UK ISO add-on

Wangle - I agree, and this keyboard is a daily driver and worth the investment for a good key set. I had no issue with my Tai-Hao set, but its just not gripping these switches and did not work properly with this layout anyway.

Would love to sort some GMK keys eventually, but most likely will be a group buy and will wait quite a while to actually get my hands on them.

Have fitted the HK Pudding Caps for now. Better fit but I cant stand the way they look and feel compared to other keys (the bog standard Glorious ABS keys for my old GMMK full-size are infinately better).

Might have a look at drop for now - seems like a good inbetween...

Looked at Drop and it only seems to be the base keys that cost $53?

I really like the look of the laser set but it's ABS and I'm not sure on the quality.

Ended up ordering the Drop + MiTo DCP Pegaso keycaps.

Found the missing keys for my Tai-Hao set, but some keys are still quite loose so ended up using some offcuts of spare films to plug the gaps - seems to work well as a short term solution.

And here you go. This is what I'm going to be using for now.. I have a number of changes I will be doing later in the year. Current specs are..

Zaku Linear Switches (63.5g Double Spring - Extended Pole - Manu'd by Tecsee) - Lubed with Krytox 205g0 + 105 on the springs.
Infinikey Blacklight Keycaps
Durock V2 Stabs tuned with just dialectric grease on the wire + 205g0 on the housings.

Did Durock V2's fit your plate? My stabs arrived today and don't fit through the holes in the plate.

Received mine yesterday after cancelling with OCUK and ordering direct from Glorious took 1 week to arrive from the US.

I originally pre ordered with Glorious in the US but cancelled as I was worried about tax etc how much extra did it cost you?

My first board was posted 59 days ago and still hasn't arrived, the replacement was posted 18 days ago and is still in Compton. DHL are truely useless and Glorious not much better. Both boards direct from Glorious, the 2nd was/is free due to first not arriving.

I'll order from Caseking now.

No tax because the item not classed as excise goods and is worth less than £135, if you do order from the Glorious, just get the board from them and buy the extras some place else so you don't end up paying import tax.

You can read more here: https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty

Can buy AKKO PBT keycap sets for around £55 only issue is no ISO enter key but it does come with the small Control Alt and Function keys so if you pick a set that match any enter keys you already have you're winning.

Good to hear that you weren't charged VAT; I think there may be an element of luck involved (human judgement) that it wasn't deemed to be worth more than £135 because it was my understanding that postage is included in the value, but could be wrong. Just know that I've not had to pay various fees even when I've been fairly sure they applied because they've slipped through the net somehow.

I've got MT3 Camillo on boba u4t tactiles and they sound pretty awesome. Comes with full UK iso coverage which not all sets do. Good value in the sense you don't have to order an extra 'international set' you only need two keycaps from.

My board was shipped yesterday, hopefully no charges or late delivery...

Gonna get the AKKO neon set as I already have Ducky neon keycaps so will have the enter key etc and can go with pink instead of red on the alternate keys if I fancy a change.

This is a build I've seen of an ansi version with them on...

So I purchased the Pro Ansi Black from Glorious directly on the 19th and it got delivered on the 28th this month. A pretty speedy delivery everything considered. Tracking too a while to update once it was bagged/ put into a container but that is considered normal, 4 days later it changed to clearing customs, didn't have to pay tax on it at all (I bought just the board and came to £150 with P&P). It was then delivered by Yodel within the next 2 days of that, all in all it was actually a really good turnaround. I actually bought that set of keycaps and have them on my board right now, I really like them far but I also also have a set of the Glorious ones on order still through Overclockers. Any questions feel free to ask :)

Gmmk Pro with Durock v2 stabs (Had to file down the plate stab points in order to get them to fit, honestly was actually really easy and you will never see where it's been filed)
Akko keycap set
Glorious Panda switches all lubed with Krytox 205go
Glorious TKL Onyx wooden wrist rest.

The only issue I came across with my keyboard is it was actually missing the layer of foam between the plate and PCB, fortunately I have some foam and just cut out the template for it to replace it, I got in touch with Glorious support and they offered me a 15% credit or 10% refund, I asked for a replacement but 10% refund if not. Got the refund back straight away so it cost me even less for the board.
