New graphics card

Jesus dave_beast give it a rest.

OP: don't listen to all this rubbish. Go and look at some performance comparison graphs and then combine that knowledge along with price and make a decision.

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the 6** series like there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the 7*** series. It's just AMD's drivers have over a period of time obtained a stigma for being poor. Make of that what you will.

No one bothers to even go on AMD's forum though lol.....
But from general forums, there is more problems with the 6** cards ATM mainly RSOD's. 7970's only have minor problems like not waking up from sleep.

you mean replace it? Ive never used custom coolers on gfx cards. Always stock.

No, dont have to replace it, but that would definetly be a good option for the future if you want the most out of it and good temps/noise because the stock cooler is nasty, poor quality card build quality wise. You are paying for pure performance alone and not material possession or quality.

^this, trying to tell this to the OP, get accused of being a fanboy, AMD rep and all sorts. Lol

There's even a thread about problems on here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18403355

From AMD ;

Nvidia ;

I'm not registered on AMD's forum, I haven't need to as I haven't had any problems, like the other millions who are not having any problems.

so that looks like more AMD users lol

No?
Nvidia has like 4 times more.
AMD's in the 10's of thousands, Nvidia the 100's of thousands.

We all don't use this forum because we have problems with OCUK same on the rather large Nvidia forum.

Definitely go 670 if your budget it £310.

Just dont expect the actual card to be of the quality you expect normal £300+ cards to be (including the build quality and materials used) As stated you are paying for performance alone, Nvidia could sell these for £200 and still make a killing.

The 670 should never have been a 300 quid card, that's AMD's fault.
The 670 looks like it started life as a 650TI.

Martin, they're not, stop talking rubbish.

Overclock.net, the US's biggest forum

More problems in the Nvidia section

Conclusive proof that Nvidia cards are the fail.... Wait...

Where can I find this information?

I would like to see the overall cost of manufacturing a card.

You can't.
But given the PCB, it started life as a 650TI most likely.
If AMD had released reasonably priced/performing cards for the next generation Nvidia wouldn't have been able to do that.

They'd either be struggling to bring out their full fat Kepler, or they'd have released it in drips and drabs if the rumours were to be believed.

28nm GPU's

AMD 7970,7950, 7870, 7850, 7770, 7750

Nvidia 680, 670, 690

Nvidia are trolling the enthusiast community and are releasing to make money rather than meeting enthusiasts requirements.

You have one person telling you to go AMD, pretty much everyone is saying GTX670, what does that say to you?

There's a lot of Nvidia fanboys defending the precious. Nvidia is like Apple, they could release a potato with an Nvidia sticker and folks would still lap it up. Fact is, the 79** cards
have less faults and overclock better than the highly clocked 6** Nvidia cards.

OP, End of the day, it's your choice, but remember on OcUK you have a 14 DSR so if you don't like your card you can send it back.
