New GT-R

That would never happen on British roads. Unless you were doing insane speeds.

I wouldn't be surprised if it could beat a Turbo round a track, not no way in hell could it beat a GT2.

There we go, I was right... but a GT2 would rape it.

It's 3 seconds slower than the GT-R around the Nordschleife, it's going to be very hard for a GT2 to "rape it". :)

Sorry the new GT-R absolutely spanks the new M3, watch the autoblog videos, round a track it was a good few seconds quicker on its first go.

And yes, the standard GT-R on ROAD tyres, is 3 seconds quicker than a GT2 on semi-slicks.
Take your Porsche 'drivers car' and shove it up your backside :p.

Yep but I'd still rather have the M3 and accept the fact that on British roads there will rarely be opportunities where GT-R's superior performance could be put to use for any gain. I suspect the MPG will be appalling too.

The GT2 is 7 seconds slower than the V-Spec :)

That's actually an unofficial lap time.

Fact remains its a huge jump in performance car technology, and should be treated as such.

You can't knock it, its achieved all they set out to do and more and has raised the bar quite a big notch, its what im sure bmw and the like will be aiming at with their next generation of sport coupes.

Absolutely astonishing engineering and as for its looks, thats entirely opinion isnt it. I happen to think the 911 has looked gash since the 964 series, and love the aggresive stance of the gtr.

I can't believe you just said that! I bet you cant fit a sofa in the boot either, shame.

Wow Tommy you're starting to sound desparate. M3 will be hard to overtake, sure, but the same applies to the M3. It would have a hard time overtaking a Corsa VXR on our lovely British roads, and so it goes on. MPG? c'mon.

Just admit you don't like it but don't try to justify it with figures because its figures are its strengths.

I too don't really like it but have full respect for what Nissan has achieved and I bet Porsche has too.

The Nissan is an amazing car there is no question of that but please hold your judgement on what road version is the quickest around the ring. It matters nothing to the vast majority of the people who buy these sorts of cars anyway and currently the only times we have seen for the GT-R are from Nissan. The last time was done on similar types of tyres to the GT2 and with 'optimised' settings and an unclear boost setting. Currently it is not a level playing field (no, its not, it’s Nissan making the claims) so lets wait and see shall we. The new GT2 is amazingly quick and from people I know who have driven production versions of both the GT2 is quicker in a straight line and very quick around a track too, though the Nissan is VERY clever.

I am not dismissing the Nissan as only an idiot would do that, they have made an amazing car for the money and moved the game on big time and I am sure it will be amazingly quick. However when all I see is manufactures claims I take it with a big pinch of salt, no matter who that manufacturer may be they are ALL guilty of building hype, no exception. It will be interesting when a few of the journals get their hands on them and start to run times and find out just how much power the thing is putting down as currently it seems to be around 560bhp at the fly from what I have read and the Ring is a power circuit.

And please, don’t give me the “why would a multi national company like Nissan make this stuff up” because it misses the point and shows a level if naivety of how the motor trade or big corporate companies work when they have a new thing to sell! As I have said before just think about the claims made by Sony each time they are about to launch a new games console…

I think Nissan should be applauded for an excellent marketing effort and producing a car that seems, on the surface, to have moved the game on a big leap, though just how big that leap actually is remains to be seen if you ask me.
