New here and new build thread of course...

I am not sure what part of the cpu is measured and used for fan speed. It is not the entire die for the 7000s chips that get to 95c but just a small portion of it and that is by design. I am sure the fan curves are working as expected because we do not have dozens of threads about how peoples fans were at 100%.

I still would want a better cooler than a 240mm preferably 360mm especially if your going to load them 16 cores .
Many thanks.
I think as has been mentioned unless I start moving fans around etc etc that would mean a different case.

What would you advise, changing the configuration of the existing case or changing cases?

Your always going to sacrifice a few degrees increase on the gpu if you put the rad at the front but it's about airflow as well moving heat out of the case. Reversally if you have a high powered gpu dumping heat into the case then cpu temps can increase slightly.

I actually think you would be fine putting the 360 front and moving the 3 fans to top and rear.

There are many cases that will put the 360 at the top but they will be a cost increase also.

Which gpu are you getting ?

Thanks and re the GPU, none to start with as my main use for this (PixInsight astro image processing) doesn't really utilise a GPU right now. That's not entirely accurate but it's additional processes like Starnet2, NXT and so on that use it so no big deal (to me) at the minute.

There are plans to change this so if it were to happen "tomorrow" I'd probably go for a 3060.

By the way I'm seeing a message below the posts saying I can post in here in 7 hours... It seems I can edit this post but maybe I will not be able to reply.
Have I done something wrong?

That's fine 3060

Here is a list of AM5 coolers on overclockerss if you want to check them out, the aerocool mirage 360mm looks a good value option if you decide to go bigger.

Thanks and I must admit I'm torn here now as I had sort of decided to go with the Arctic 240mm if putting it in the top. It's not a huge jump to the 360 so would that still be a better bet over the Aerocool if I'm going for a front mounted unit?

Having said that the A-RGB 360 is on preorder and I can't see any info on when that might land unless anyone has a view????

if you like the lancool case the lancool III allows a 360mm aio in roof...bit more money though, but I like that the sides swing out though..easy for cleaning/tinkering

I'd not seen the III listed as I was looking in a different section but thanks for adding to the price :-)

The Lancool II was in a bundle with the PSU so I added the same one manually and here we are, just a shame the Arctic doesn't come in white... What on earth have you folk done to me....

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,729.55 (includes delivery: £14.70)

Hi again, just one last thing (I think) but is there anything else I need to get this build working? I'm speaking about cables, adapters etc rather than monitor, keyboard and the like?

Great thank you
Your welcome.

Just a word of advice, the motherboard manual will walk you threw the build so it's worth reading as is other manuals.

First boot up the motherboard trains the memory for optimum performance this can take a while and may restart a few times so be patient.

Let's us know how you get on .

Enjoy.
