New here and new build thread of course...

Nice.

Just a bit of cable management to tidy, mite need a couple of extensions and once all the Rgb is sinked will look even better.

Good job.
Thanks and agreed. didn't mention it but cable tidying hasn't been done yet as I'm still only testing really and also need to fit the bottom fans. However, duly noted :-)

As I say just testing but trying to pre-process around 300 images in PixInsight and the calibration phase of these would have taken, maybe 2/3 hours on my old machine has just completed in under 5 minutes.... Jeepers

You should have threaded the Al120 fan leads behind the mobo before you put the AIO in. Will not be easy to move it now without removing the aio.

Your build does look lovely but empty without a gpu. I adore how the current Asus mobos look with the brushed metal covers over the M.2 drives. When you do get a gpu it will be hard to get one as nice as your other components , the 3060 level of cards are built to a budget and the coolers generally just have plastic covers over the fans. Zotac do a white version but once you go that route you are paying the white tax and costs more for the same corresponding part. Also coming to eol for a lot of the Ampere cards so if you want a white one dont wait too long.

The leads have been behind already, you cannot see from the image but behind/below the AIO are the grommets and it's fairly easy to push the cables through so no worries there.

I will get a GPU at some point once PI can make proper use of it but the speed it's churning through now is amazing. I will have a look sooner if I want to get a white one now, may as well carry on as I've started :-)

Here are the best free games on pc if you fancy a try.

Ok thanks had a look and managed to steer myself through various logins etc and I think I'm installing League of Legends.... No idea whether that is good, bad or indifferent but it was on that list so I'll soon find out....

I have another query please... On the first page of this thread it was mentioned to maybe use ECO mode on the 7950x so after failing to find anything in the BIOS I used google and found the AMD RYZEN MASTER app but I don't have the option to check "Eco", it just isn't given as an option. I see screenshots of the app online and it shows a choice of Eco, Default, Auto OC and Manual but I don't have it.

Is there something else I need to switch on or off first?

Don't worry I found it, there is a PBO setting in the BIOS.

Oh I spoke too soon I still don't see the option in the Ryzen app.... Back to the drawing board...

I have not played around with the bios for a Ryzen 4 but I think if you enable PBO you will not be able to use ecomode. I may be wrong with that and you will need to do your own testing. You may need to update bios, I always found Asus bios annoying to navigate.

If you fancy a good game then Battle Brothers can easily be run without a gpu. It is currently £22 , which I think is a bit expensive so wait for a sale. I just checked my playtime with the game and it is over 2000 hours . Currently play Divinity Original Sin II and that would probable work OKish with integrated graphics as well.

ok thanks for that, amybe I should update the BIOS as I know there is one. The PBO setting said "ECO Mode" so I assumed it was the right thing to do :-) I will carry on looking, just kicking off some astro imaging first....

That could be where Asus have it tucked away. Run an instance of R23 and check power draw then turn on the ecomode in the pbo settings and then check again. There should be a significant difference in power used whilst not much loss in performance.
