No there is definite fault with certain batches of Ipod Touch within the US, whether this transpires to the UK release is unknown.

Hopefully the problem is limited to some bad batches in America. I will post screenies as soon as I get mine. (Hoping my preorder is shipped early :p)

They obviously haven't been updated to the new Firmware 1.0.1 though, so I would suggest waiting if you intend on viewing one again.

Mine is fine now, menus are fast as my 5G iPod Video (apart from Coverflow) but that's forgivable on a 80GB+ collection ;)

Yes, and you can hear above 20KHz can't you :rolleyes:

These are the only real arguments...
- The group delay is not linear over the frequency range.
- There is significant intermodulation distortion with a 22.1kHz component.

The human ear goes above 20KHz (I know) but the older you get the more the range decreases. I seriously doubt that will even factor like the reviewer is making out.

It's like saying "oh but the car will drive like crap at 100mph" when the limit is 70.

I think that's why, in his summary, he basically says "listen to one and see what you think", all the facts and figures in the world on things like this don't mean a great deal without a bit of personal experience imo.

I won't be swapping my 80gig 5.5g for any of the new models, but I don't think i'd be losing sleep over sound quality either way :)
 
Yeah, I'm not losing sleep.

To be honest I needed the storage so it wouldn't make me go back to my 80GB. I could just stream my music via Airtunes and listen to them on my hifi if I was worried about quality :)
 
Finally pressed the check-out button on a 16GB iPod Touch, after much considering and looking at my financial standing. I shall not spend any more money till the 1st of Oct...

Now to cross my finger I do not get a "bad batch".

Anyone know if the item is personalised, if I do receive the bad batch, is apple willing to swap in another? I chose to engrave, was listen to MC Hammer when I thought of engraving it... 8)
