I'm in two minds on getting the 16gb Touch,I want it but the bad batch of Touch's has put me off.Whats the chances of them making their way over here?If I ordered one online(with the discount)and find I have one of those poor quality ones can I take it to a store and get a refund or exchange?

That's what I'm wondering too but every item you buy holds a risk - AFAIK, buying from Apple online has the same 14days cooling period as other companies. You do however get charged £40 for restocking (but I'm wondering if I'll get charged if I exchange for the same item due to dissatisfaction of item quality (compared to advertised)

It's a risk I'm willing to gamble.
So Apple will either make me a happy bunny or an annoyed bunny.

They're probably not allowed to charge under the distance sales act.
Yes, but they'll pull the whole "you need to pay restocking fees" thing if you've opened it.. which you would have.

It's highly likely they'd wave that if you kicked up a stink.. after all that IS a hardware problem so I'd expect a straight swap.

Yes, so long as you can get them to admit that the negative effect is a defect.

It shouldn't be a problem, but if they won't accept it you'll have to argue :D

I was under the impression that people who were taking touches with crap screens to apple stores were able to get them replaced on the spot, I doubt this case would be any different. ;)

I don't know.. I haven't read about the touch issues in depth.

I was just saying; getting the store to recognise the problem is half the battle.

I had a Sony TV once and the shop refused to admit the fault, which resulted in me shouting ;)

They already have made it over here, they were on sale in Regents Street yesterday and 2 people on another forum who both got one from there have one with a bad screen.

On sale in Regent Street yesterday?!

Could it be the "earlier" sold ones are having bad screens? I'm seriously crossing my fingers and hope my delivered one is the decent one... :/

Yes, Regent Street , Manchester and Glasgow Apple stores all have them now, heres the forum and specific thread with the video probs on uk touches, other threads there discuss uk release etc too.

I was going to buy a touch but weighed up the pros and cons and bought a nano instead ;)

I'm sending my Classic back ... don't like the SQ ... or the bugs ...

as long as in a good condition you can send back within 14 days ... but if software if you've opened it you can't return (understandable)

re return - they don't charge you a restocking fee..its their courier fee ... 20 pounds if item was under 200 ..60 pounds if over 200

seems fair enough to me

Mark.

I've just canceled my iPod Touch order from the Apple store. Think i'd rather buy it from a shop that I can easily return it to, as from the sounds of it a fair no. of the UK Touches are affected :(

There's also the aforementioned 802.11b/g support, which is able to handle WEP, WPA and WPA2, but not WPA Enterprise and WPA2 Enterprise.
Damn it! That means my I'll not be able to use the iPod Touch on my uni's wireless.

Oh well... apparently, with wireless turned off, the iPod Touch battery reaches 5.5hrs but with wireless on, it's only about 3hrs...
