New iPod??

I'm sending my Classic back ... don't like the SQ ... or the bugs ...

as long as in a good condition you can send back within 14 days ... but if software if you've opened it you can't return (understandable)

re return - they don't charge you a restocking fee..its their courier fee ... 20 pounds if item was under 200 ..60 pounds if over 200

seems fair enough to me

Mark.
Just get the Firmware update

As for the SQ.. that's an individual thing.

I'm not seeing anything to write home about, certainly not enough to make me sell it (and I'm an audiophile!)

£60 to send it back.. LOL.

By the looks of it it's the week 37 ones that are most likely defective. If you can get week 38 or later you 'should' be ok.

Apparently the new Apple store in Solihull had Touches yesterday, but they were mostly week 37's. I was going to go this morning, but apparently they're sold out already :(

I'm still waiting for the online order to go through and be delivered.

Rather annoyed when online (pre)orders aren't delivered but stores are getting them... not just me particularly, most Euro orders and a lot of American's are still waiting...

By the way, anyone knows if an online ordered item, if faulty/defect like negative black screens, can be exchanged at an Apple Store instead? There is an Apple store 40mins from me (Southampton)

Saw all the new'ens yesterday in the Apple Store in Manchester.
The Nano's look nice, and coverflow isnt as bad as i expected.
The Classics, for some reason, their coverflow was noticably slow to open, and to load the covers. Dont like the matt finish they have either.
And the Touch, i only got to see one, as they only had 3 in, one a sales rep was trying to sell to someone, and the other two were being hogged by these two lads who stood there for an hour and a half playing with the browser!.
How did i know they were an hour and a half? Because i gave up waiting after 20mins and came back an hour and ten later! :p.

Can you post a link to somewhere with the info re the weeks

Right, went to the new Solhull Apple Store today, and ended up with one of the new 8Gb Nanos :D

I had a go with the Touch, and although it was very nifty, I couldn't help but think that most of the time I wouldn't be using any of its extra features. Just starting to upload music to my nano and i'm very impressed so far! :D

Don't be so quick to write off the Classic.

I'm guessing the store haven't upgraded the firmware on them, which does improve menu performance :)

in my case, replace sell with buy ;).
If you rely on the iPod for your sole consumption of high quality music then you're fighting a loosing battle from the start.

I use my system for music exclusively (in the house), and the iPod is more of a "on the move" thing, it just happens to be full of lossless music and does a decent job of playing it back ;)

This is annoying now... my iPod touch delivery date has just been put back to 4th/5th Oct instead of the original 1st/2nd :(

I could have walked into the Southampton's store and got one...
Hopefully this "patience" pays off, if the screen is anything like the week 37s... I'll be one angry Apple eater.

The retail stores have been getting drips and draps lately and more are expected over the week but I'm sure the main bulk will be here for the weekend...

It's likely they've updated the order with a delayed ship date to ensure you DON'T get a dodgy screen model.

It's certainly worth the wait if you consider the problems people have had, alternatively you could just buy one in an Apple store and cancel your order if the screen is ok :)

Mine slipped back to the 4th as well. Popped into the regent st store on my way home yesterday and the guy told me they were expecting a shipment either yesterday or today and they hadn't got them yesterday so it should be today. So I'm going to wonder along at lunchtime and grab one if they have one.

I have to say, considering you can get them in store before you get the one you pre-ordered is a bit of a joke. I pre-ordered because i wanted to get hold of one as soon as possible, what a waste of time...
