New Lian- Li PC-A10B

Hi, I think that the height of the heatsink will not be the issue as this case is wider than most to incorporate two PSU's side be side. As I stated in my photo session, this mothboard tray is taller, thus allowing for the Scythe heatsink and the fan, which overlaps the heatsink, to be fitted before you slide the tray in place. But then I, just, managed to do this with my old Lian-Li too with just the heatsink, not the fan, in place.
The issue is how close the top fan can be to the heatsink, as can be seen by my photos the Scythe just does it, any deeper then I would have had issues....

Quick question, this case takes x4 120mm fans right? The description states "12cm ball-bearing fan x 3 patent side fan x 1" so I assume they are all the same size. I'm wondering though if the 'patent side' fan can be swapped for a third party fan easily? From what i've heard, the Lian Li fans aren't that quiet, so if I get this case (which I think I will) I'll swap them all out for Scythes probably. But I just wanted to check this is possible. Anyone know?

are there any problems fitting a PSU that has a fan on the bottom with this case .i was thinking about the air flow .as the PSU goes on the bottom of the case will it cause problems

Hi, I think that the fan side of that kind of PSU will face inwards so it shouldn't be a problem. However if you have two PSU's like that, then it might be, perhaps best to have one fan on second PSU.

Grrr, just wired up the top and rear fans to the regulator to find that it only controls the bottom front fan :-( Found out also that it does need a 12v power connector going to the 3-position switch, otherwise it won't regulate at all. I've now put the other fans back onto the motherboard case connectors....

Also, judging by the holes, it looks like it is possible to swop over the hinge of the door, thus enabling it to open the other way....

That's a bit silly of Lian Li surely. To go the effort of making a fan control switch that only controls one of four fans! Odd. What's the best way to control speed of the other fans then? Would you need to purchase a third party fan speed controller, or are there other easy ways to do it?

hi

what size is your PSU?

just wandering as the latest PSU's that are 1000 watts and over are 9 inches long (Enermax Galaxy 1000W) and there does not look to be much room there, even if it fitted you would never get the wires connected if it is a modular PSU

OR is that the reason it takes 2 PSU's so you can use smaller ones?

Read the thread, this has been discussed in depth.

Sadly it won't.

You should be able to control all 4 fans with it if you use y cables. Otherwise as with all other cases you have to buy a fan controller or use resistors. If they included 4 fan controllers it would probably cost a lot more.

Better than nothing. Most cases don't allow you to control any.
And as i said, with the right cables you can control all the fans.

dont you just hate it .after spending over £150 on a case you then have to go out and buy more gear for it .

How many cases, expensive or not, include a fan controller?
I think you'll find the answer is close to zero.

Yes the case is overpriced, all lian li cases are, but none of them include fan controllers except this one.

Theres a couple of cm of clearance behind the door for a fan controller but you'll have to check the dimensions.

Why not buy fans with a fan controller on instead, such as the antec tri-cool?

yes but the fan controller is next to useless unless u wanna spend more money on cables to make it work as it should .they would be better off not even putting the fan controller on it in the first place and knock its price down a little .i take that with the antec tri-cool fans you would need to keep opening the case to turn them up or down ?

I agree, i do think its a little pointless.

What you get with the tricools and this case aren't really fan controllers as such, with the tricools you'll just set it to whatever level is best for you and leave it. They are just 3 way speed switches.

yeah any word if these largers PSU's fit in it?

I am still alive....there are no sharp edges to cut yourself on in this case :) Sorry that I have not been posting...

I have nearly fitted everything. I have been so busy...oh well.

One thing is that the big psu fan points towards the case side with 1-2cm clearence.... turning it around does not look to be very hard... I will look at it tomorrow because I think I havedrunk too much tonight. :) :) I have been lucky in the past building pc when drunk but one day something will go wrong :D

Goodnight :)

In the market for a new case, i see this one has watercooling holes on top, just wondering how a dual rad will look sitting up there?

Anyone got this case for watercooling in mind ?

If so any pictures of it ?

Cheers

Hi, let the motherboard control the fan's speed, such as I have done. Lian-Li have always controlled their fans in this way, perhaps I should have made that clear as I wasn't criticising them, just my own stupidity.

You can just turn the PSU mounting around so that the fan can point inwards.

If you look at my picture the 'Antec' logo is on the top of the PSU, therefore if it had bottom fan it would be facing in.

Yes I would have thought that this case is designed to have smaller, lower output PSU's. Although I think that possibly a 9" long PSU would fit but you might have to remove one of the HD cages.

Dimensions of my PSU are: 5.9"(W) x 3.4"(H) X 5.9"(L). When I next take my side panel off I'll measure the space for you.
Yes, my future plans are to H20, when I get my crossfire X1900 that is what I probably will do...

Hiya crazyswede, no, alcohol and building PC's are not a good idea, lol...

Hi, removing the door takes seconds:

However changing it round is difficult because the anti-vibrate seals are glued in place. I decided not to attempt this...
