Fair enough, I might try that then although if they ask me for proof I don't know what to say.
They will only ask you to provide an email address.. just get one off a friend at university and you've got a backup.

If they don't you're laughing

I'm going to order the 15" MBP with a upgraded 7200rpm HDD, or is it not really worth the extra £91?

Edit: scrap that idea, with the upgrade it takes 3-4 weeks for delivery

I'd never recommend getting any of their options as its way too expensive. The 7200rpm drive is good if you are always going to have the MBP plugged in.

Yeah I will be, can't say it will be travelling with me much. I can probably fit one myself if needs be (and cheaper)

The 160GB 7200rpm is quite a bit faster than a 200GB 4700rpm drive.

If you need it go for it, otherwise just shove one in yourself at a later date if you don't get on with the stock one.

Just sold my MBP.. hopefully have this next week :D

(17" HD, 160GB, 4GB RAM!)

I'm not sure how hard it is to install, but I'd buy a rockin' Seagate Momentus 7200.2 drive separately.

Actually not as much as you'd think.

Crucial has the 4GB RAM for £270 (instead of Apple's £480) so about £400-500 on top of the sale of my old MBP :)

Suprised they even had the 2.4GHz MacBook Pro in their compatibility lists!

Blimey that is cheap! Once i've recovered the hole in my wallet after buying a 1.5k MBP then I might upgrade the RAM to 4GB.

Slightly OT from me

How much do you rekon I would get for my Rev A Macbook Pro?

Its a 15inch, Matte, 2GB Memory,100gb hdd, 2.0Ghz CoreDuo, 256mb X1600, Superdrive, has a firewire 800 expresscard 34, Applecare until April 2009?

Edit: this is since I am considering funding a new Macbook Pro - not just asking randomly.

£850-£950ish is what they've gone for on the bay, maybe £1000 at a push.

...somethings coming :D

Just put my 17" MBP on ebay.. couldn't hold off the temptation to buy this new model !!

Tell me how much you get, i may sell mine for the new one!

You havn't had yours for long? April?

Josh

I have had it since April 06. I think at the moment selling mine to fund a newer more expensive one is probably a bad idea. The speed is only the main thing that I would gain - and to be fair, I can't see them being *that* much quicker then what I have at present (Yeah i know its C2D and all that jazz).

Think i'll hold out another 12 months.

That base model is looking quite interesting. Does anyone have any idea how much difference in performance in a game like Civ 4 128MB of VRAM will have compared to 256MB? If 128MB is really just a 'toy' amount then it's hard to justify getting that particular model, IMHO.
