whats delivery time like from the apple shop? if you just order a base model without any mods/addons. planning on buying the 2.2 15"er tomorrow morning.

(Just bought a 2.4 base) And I've been quoted estimated shipping date 13th June and delivery estimate date 22nd June. Will be worth the wait but I hope it comes quicker :)

You're lucky!

I initially saw the delivery as "3 days" when I ordered mine, now apparently the lead time has been bumped to 4-6 weeks!

Obviously I can't do anything to speed it up, but having sold my MBP I am now Mac-less for what's going to be a good month! :(\

Oh, and not sure if they charge to put a drive in the Mac.. I assume they do!

I might risk doing it myself tbh. The lead time went up to 5 days just before I ordered mine. How long does it take to get a confirmation email of your order, 'tis taking a while?

Edit: never mind it's here now, just me worrying :)

Another edit: it says nothing will be shipped until it's all available, but, I remember people saying accessories/things available in 24 hours come before the Mac?

Mine's estimated at 14th/15th June. I also plumped for the 2.2 model; I could really do with it arriving a couple of days earlier than that though!

the new mbp looks really nice, its a good update much better than the macbook tbh they dont look as appealing any more
I thought that, but then I saw someone at the airport with a Macbook. Then they ended up close to me on the plane, and I can tell you they had a much easier laptop experience than me with my comparatively bulky 15" MBP :(

Didn't you feel good knowing you have an essentially more powerful machine though ;)

I wonder are more updates planned to coincide with the release of Leopard??
I've been thinking of getting a MB PRO and this new one might just make me do it, but are there gonna be any updates when Leopard comes out? & also, how much will the Leopare update cost (October IIRC).

Final question: This Apple discount (HE or whatever) is that Uni student only? Is there any discount that I could claim (Currently 16, in y11 doing GCSE's - buying for daily school use when I'm in 6th Form)?

but what i mean is that for the price of the mac book it just doesnt seem worth it after the update to the mbp, obviously they are aimed at diff markets but in terms of bumps in specs and options the mbp went from good to great where as the macbook really just stayed the same if you see what i mean

You want the normal discount were you can order over the net. Just put in the name of the college you're going to in September and you should be alright.

The owner was around my age and hawt. Maybe I should've tried that line  :D

Yeah, it's a bit weird. Maybe they want more people using more powerful macs, or more likely they just want to sell more of the more expensive items.

On the other hand, perhaps improving the Macbook more would increase the price and people buying them probably aren't too bothered about extra CPU speed, etc. A cheaper Macbook would be great I reckon :)

Intel is due to release the new Penryn chip "late 2007" so it's likely but not 100% due to coincide with October / Leopard.

Leopard should be around £58 if it's priced as Tiger is now.

I wouldn't worry about buying now.. Leopard is months away, and if you're new to Macs it will give you the chance to get familiar with OS X :)

i personally think it should be cheaper

I want a new MBP but if the wait time for new ones is weeks then I wont be able to for atleast a month :(
Have to sell current MBP before I got a new one, do they take the money out of your account when you click PAY or when it leaves their warehouse?

I would think it's when it's despatched, I think they have to do it that way by law?

Edit: I bought mine yesterday and the payment hasn't been taken yet.
