NEW MSI B550 UNIFY better than X570 UNIFY??

Ha ya... I didn't want to upgrade last year because I didn't want to put an old dusty system in a new case... ya a 1200psu should be enough for anything. I heard even 850 psus good for 3080s etc...
There was a rumour that the 3080 had spikes causing power issues theres a thread on here about it but i havnt got a 3080 so no concerns for me there wether its true or not i dont know it could be people trying to run them on cheap psu instead of a quality one

Ahh ya I think I remember reading that. I'm reusing my old corsair ax850 gold which was rated highly many years ago and still working fine... So figure it'll work fine till I can get a 3000nividia going.

I had a couple of those years ago cracking psu they were think i had a 750 and 650 version in different pcs

Hows it going mate

I seriously get no time with no noise in the living room, either kid is blaring his tablet or jumping around like a chimp or wife is watching TV or heck even in the video I asked her to keep quite for 5 mins and then she comes in eating corn nuts while I'm recording... (rant over).

To sum up the video:
1. Slightly tightened the 4 screws (mb VRM heatsinks); didn't push into the screws only tightened the slack (2 screws were a bit loose). Noticed no difference but I'll listen again.
2. Was able to hook up both aio pumps at the same time. There was a noticeable difference in noise. I'll record another vid when there is no one awake but me .

So next on my agenda: going to test the cooler noises again,
Oh Alex I think I asked you this before but can you set a 0rpm fan mode on the phanteks?

I need to decide if I want a much more quiet pump or - argb fans/icue software/commander core. I can make up the fans and commander core ie 90pounds more~

Hmmm

I never tried to set it to 0 i just set so i couldnt hear them at all also have a look at these fans

Yeh i nearly went for them myself but out of stock

Was reading about the 0rpm mode with corsair that I keep asking about. Looks like it's a special feature.
I think the fan has to offer it and the controller has to offer it, ie the commander core and the ml fans with the capellix aio. But, don't quote me, hooking up LL fans to the commander core won't allow 0rpm mode. Although not sure. Supposedly the 0rpm mode offered by the aio is unique in that it doesn't cut out the power it just makes the fans go 0rpm. This is why some people complain about 0rpm in other things because of the start up. I think it's more subtle with the aio.

If they just went with a asetek cooler, the cappelix aio would be perfect (close).
Still need to decide on which to use.

Yeh youd think someone would combine the best of both worlds they would grap the lions share after all surley it cant be that difficult to put a quiet pump with the corsair aio but im no expert seems daft not to really the only other way to compare is temps

Ya... Oh the phanteks asetek uses a 4 point contact to screw the pump in, while the corsair uses a 2 point. It was suggesting in other reviews that this could affect temps but never proven, I had a msi core liquid before I sold it, and the reviews tried to analyze this, the lian li uses a 2 point screw down also.

Id have thought 4 point would be better as thats what the water cooling blocks are

Well I couldn't make up my mind so fully installed the phanteks aio (without fans).
Set to 900rpm pump I can barely hear it. It's whisper quiet. Set to 50% still fairly quiet, 70% it's a bit more noticeable maybe like the corsair but I lost my quiet time, now it's a circus for noise in the living room again.

One thing I was going to ask you Alex, I assume you have gamed on your computer since the phanteks aio install. Do you have or need to have the pump speed quite high? Or can you leave it at 900-1100ish?

Hi i just left mine on auto mate so itll change on its own if and when it needs to never hear it when playing games due to sound if games and obviously if its not needed it stays low hope this helps

Yes it does ty, I let my wife listen to both of them, she noticed the difference also.

So it's either,
Corsair: better fans worth 40-50pounds, commander core 50pounds, logo on rad ok not much but something. Can set 0rpn fans connected to commander core if the fans allow. Imo the rgb block both look equally just as good although I can control the colors via icue.

Phanteks: whisper quiet, or 70%pump speed maybe similar as corsair quiet mode. Phanteks fans probably not worth much resell.

So it depends if I favor quiet over 100in fans/commander core.

If I went phanteks I can get a commander Pro and hook up some corsair fans and still use icue to control them ie lightening/speed.

I must say, my coil whine is attributed is atrocious and unacceptable on my Unify-x. It even makes noises when moving the mouse.

Strangely, it’s at its quietest when benchmarking. Leaving it to itself is just a bit grim and very distracting.

I did break a screw as mentioned earlier but another person has described exactly the same thing without that ‘error’ / design flaw.

Disappointing but hohum.

Did you try a x570 unify board aswell and have same issue
