**** New Official DayZ Thread *****

Would be nice to play with a few friendlies. I know what I'm doing and just think I'd enjoy it a bit more in servers with a few friendly people that want to team up so it at least gives me a chance to get to explore a bit before I get bummed by others :p
 
I managed to get on the CPC Epoch server last night, and now I really see why people have been raving about this game.

I was getting shot at in Balota almost immediately after spawning so hid, prone, in some bushes and watched for ages and ages. Eventually saw a guy quickly stand up on top of a tower and risked it to go over and help him fight, turned out to be a great guy who gave me a lift with his mate to a place with loads of guns.

After we almost got gunned down by more bandits in the woods we got the teamspeak on, and that's when it became a whole lot more fun!

Great game.

Glad you are liking it mate, btw I think that was me who was shooting at the guy on the firestation roof. I had my police hilux with my flashing lights on siren works to lol.

Yeah I'm welsh, though not a terribly strong accent. Amazed you picked it up tbh!

I don't regular any servers reeeeally, but I currently enjoy the one linked in the video, UK 172 (1st person only on hardcore) and GenesisPC for a more relaxed session.
 
@Witcher - yeah, I was terrified when I saw and heard that car, I thought you were shooting at me! Haha.

@ryryryan - thanks for the server tips, will try them out. And yeah, I'm Welsh myself, so your accent really sounded familiar for me. Llantrisant neck of the woods originally.

That's how I installed mine and works fine. Grab dayz commander to install the mods though!

Great game, loving arma2 in general at the moment, dunno how I missed it until now.
 
I wouldn't hold your breath for a stable standalone version anytime soon but...the mod has some really good stuff atm. Really enjoying the overwatch mod and to whomever recommended the dead man walking servers - its lots of fun.
 
how its going i cant see it being soon now.

djshauny1 just play a decent run private hive with decent admins there are lots of full busy servers. on these kinda server its very rare to encounter any at all.

Looks a bit strange with the 2 totally different styles in 1, but it's still a nice change.

Also interesting thing on the left with the UAZ... Nothing like that in current Dayz. Basebuilding?

Oh yeh I know that kind of stuff is out there, I just meant in vanilla DayZ mod.

Anyway I'm not sure what I think of Base Building. I regular'd a server with it in (was just normal DayZ with tons of addons) and eventually everyone started basebuilding around loot places and such. Unfortunately the admins saw no problem in this, despite making it pretty annoying for new spawns to find loot.

If there is base building, there has to be some sort of strict rule of countryside only, which seems hard to implement.

Standalone bases sound better though, underground instance based so no affecting the map.

I resumed a safe game last night, next to a base, walked around for about two minutes and got shot in the woods. I bet it was you Witcher! :)

Have to say I'm falling in love with this game, it's bizarre to feel so engaged, concentrating so much while hiding in a bush, in the countryside, looking at a farm that you might go to search when you think it's safe.............for over 10 minutes! Ha.

Not easy explaining to my mates why it's so good.
 
yeah standalone and even vanilla will be better than epoch and origins and such. the mods like epoch are just trying to do what standalone is already doing its just not out yet.


bases are bugged in mods like epoch and such anyway you can get in them even when locked.i got into most bases for eg on cpc epoch server doing simple jumps and leans and there standard things.
