thanks guys. Just been reading some info on the game. I take it there is a standalone coming some time is that correct? Will it be based around the Arma3 engine?
 
just been looking and reading about the standalone...lots of peeved off people it would seem as it's not really moving forward much. Just watched a video on YouTube that Dean (I'm guessing one of the devs) posted, looked better than Arma2 DayZ mod IMO. Might hang on and just see where it goes, Arma2 looks so old now lol. Although judging by peoples comments and still no release date, I might be waiting a long time :( shame I like the concept, was really looking forward to something totally different and engaging.
 
You could check out State of Decay? It is single player though, I have not tried it myself but my friends say it is ok, I think it is cheap to. You also have "Nether" which imo is to expensive for what you get right now (if you see it for £5 it is worth a go imo, I enjoy it for what it is but it is not worth anymore then that), WarZ (survivor series) is a no no unless you can get it for a quid. Apart from that you have Arma 3 which has it's own DayZ mods, which will probs kill standalone anyway as the engine is far superior .

Don't wait for stand alone mate, it'll be months before its release.

Buy the additional expansion pack you need and hit the standard servers alone.

so you think standalone will be pants and I should just instal Arma2, get the Arrowhead expansion and then mod with DayZ and get playing?

Tough question m8, no one knows when SA will be out, DG is well in with the devs and he has given us release dates 3-4 times now, as you can imagine they have been and gone and we are still waiting for it to be released :)

Arma 2 complete was on sale on Steam the other day for like £4, not sure if it still is.

and its on steam now for £12.50. I can just get Arrowhead for a couple quid as I already have Arma2 on disc.

I do indeed m8, I was a part owner on the CPC server at one time (server is on page one of this thread), they also have a website you could check out. IMO atm you have two big servers, one being MGT (they have the big youtube streamers):

Give them ago m8 see if you like them, you do have a ton of other servers with different mods but these two do Epoch which IMO is the best mod atm.

Yes, for sure, but don't seek to play with a group straight away as you'll learn how to 'survive' the zombies too quickly, thus taking away the 'fear' experience players had when they first played the mod.

Once you've figured out all the controls and other things, then see about moving to the other games like DayZ Epoch and finding people to play with.

cant help it if Rocket decided to build a new game from scratch so as to draw-out his position as project lead, instead of just changing a few things and getting the whole thing as a single 'stand alone' game in one file/disc :p

Well I guess you're right, nobody would've had the foresight to realise the cretin would do such a thing for his own ends.
