New Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II - The perfect camera???

thats easy wait a few months and the price will drop

it will have to drop a lot though. If £1700 is the correct launch price, even £300 off at £1400 a few months later will make it twice the new price of the mark 1.

To my mind, if the em5 is £500, the em1 mark 1 is £700 the em1 mark 2 should be launched at £1100 to £1200 dropping to a £1000 after a few months.

I have just seen that Sony A7s II FF bodies are only £1799 new now which is pretty much what olympus want for this new body.

Disappointed.

doubt it will be 1700 more like 1500 at most bristol cameras will have there pricing in november probably will be a something thrown in as a deal as well battery grip or something ,although waiting is a good idea 6-12 months on the release of the omd em-1 i purchased mine second hand at around £700 pound and is still a good camera now stood the test of time ,how much better the omd em1 mk 2 is i do not know one of the olympus gurus is claiming that he gets comparable night shots 6400 with mk 2 against 1600 with oly omd em1 mk1 ,Peter Baumgarten's First Impressions E-M1 Mk II

since oly stated it will launch at the same price as the mk1 did approx. that puts it at around £1400 (the mk1 launched at around £1300 i believe)

Spoke to Carmarthen cameras the other day they have an Olympus rep visiting on the 2nd of November so hopefully a couple of weeks and we'll have a accurate price.

No they have said it will be more (slightly) than the mk1.

Since then exchange rate has plummeted which will probably add another 10% or so so I can easily see it been the leaked £1700 in the UK

Ouch, I loved my E-M1 but that really is a lot of cash for a MFT camera, even a very very good one.

I switched to Fuji about 18 months ago and haven't really looked back (other than picking up an RX1 as a compact option). The only things I miss are the IBIS and the Live Bulb and Live Composite modes, they were very handy and I am surprised no one else has copied them yet.

Well a second shop is now saying the confirmed launch price is $1750 (Fuji XT-2 is $1,600 and tje EM1 mark 1 launched at $1400) which at our current exchange rate plus vat = £1,716 :(

Suppose the exchange rate not helping. AT 1.35 it would have been £1,555 and at 1.5 it would have been £1,399.99.

At £1,716 I think I will sit and wait it out for a second hand one.

4 is 25% of 16, it's also 20% of 20 but they're talking about the improvement so they've got it right :)

They could expand more if they include hires mode although not totaly useable without tripod anyway i am intetested to see their improvements on this feature .

Safe to say Steve Huff likes it a lot along with the new lenses.

The new 12-100 lens is stunning. A MUST own lens. This is the lens you may not think you want, but you really do. This lens, when attached to the new E-M1 II has 5 Axis that gives us a 6.5 stop advantage. The IQ of this lens is perfection from wide open to stopped down and from 12mm to 100. It’s small for what it is, but a full PRO Olympus lens with weather sealing and all. It’s weather SEALED not splash proof like most. Beautiful.
The new 25 1.2 is also a STUNNER!!! Forget what you think you know as this lens is up there with ANY lens from Leica in regards to contrast, sharpness, rendering and Bokeh. And no, it is NOT too big.
The new E-M1 II may be…may be…the best camera I have ever reviewed as a total package. But I will get into all of that in my full review as more testing is required and I am shooting all week with it.

You may not think you want it but you really do 12-100mm f4
nah what you want is the mentioned pana leica trio 8-16 2.8-4 12-60 2.8-4 50-200 2.8 -4 all of those lenses are more appealing other than they are not constant aperture.

They're the new ones announced at Photokina.

Yeah finally found them through searching. So little info on these yet including price.

Just wondered why paul10 thinks these are far superior to the olympus ones when nobody has the pana leica ones yet.

And I dislike variable 2.8 to f4 as well, much prefer fixed.

For me they are better 8-18 will allow screw in filters the olympus or panasonic 7-14 does not this will replace my olympus 9-18 the 50-200 if optically as good or better than my 40-150 pro i will replace as the 40-150 requires a t/c which is not the greatest to reach 200mm the 12-60 will replace my 12-35 mm f2.8 if sharper at 12mm and pana leica glass is always a little special not saying that olympus pro is not they both have there plus points but those 3 lenses will be hard combination to beat .Although if buying the omd the 12-100 will be the prefered option i have those focal lenghts covered with larger apeture lenses .i just find it a little mute for me

Good point on the filter on the 8-18

For me a good mix would be the 8-18 pana, the 12-100 oly and the 50-200 pana

I dont mind a decent amount of crossover.

The 12-100 will match the new body if I get it.

The only thing I would miss perhaps is the waterproofing. Will wait for reviews and to see them all in real life.

yes a very good mix but will not be cheap ,be hard to miss out on 6.5 stops of is with the oly lens although 5 stops will be plenty in most instances i assume for video it will come to the afore with 12-100mm
