** NEW SAMSUNG 750D & 950D True 120Hz LED Monitors - PRE-ORDER! **

A quick question regarding the S23A750D.

From what I understand the HDMI port can't display 120hz. Conveniently enough the model of 560ti I just got opts for mini-HDMI instead of DP. Would it be possible to achieve 120hz with a DVI-D to DP converter?

How did you manage to get hold of this model? I've seen no sign of it anywhere

I'm in New Zealand, sorry if I've gotten your hopes up.

We don't have that large a population/range of products down here - the cost is much higher here too for this model - so I've been reading this forums for monitor news. Hope no-one minds. :)

New Zealand and Australia have both models of the 950 series. Not sure if New Zealand has the 750 series yet, but Australia does.

Seems ill get mine tomorrow, superb. just hope it comes with a mini-dp to dp adapter as i never got one with my gpu. all i got was a m-dp to hdmi, pointless :/.

Well if anyone is intrested in a S27A950D im gonna be putting mine up for sale in the next couple of days.

Love the monitor but want to go to a bigger screen.

hrm, having some serious issues with my new s23a750d.

Couldnt get it to work in 3d mode with my ps3, gets stuck with a black/grey screen.
And 3d over displayport has insane ghosting, if i use 2d->3d conversion there is Zero ghosting so something must be extreamly wrong with how it syncs the image over displayport.

The monitor also gets stuck in some kind of limbo mode when i disable 3d on dp, with a black/grey screen, and i have to restart the monitor to get the picture back. :(

After some further testing iv narrowed down the issue with my monitor. It reealy dosn't like when the update frequency changes. Will be doing a rma on in tomorrow.

I'll be getting my replacment today, and then ill be doing some tests on it.

Btw for you nvidia users, seems samsung did a stealth release of a DVI modell of the a750.
It even has a better looking footstand, and the electronics in the actual frame. They forgot the vesa mount again though.

It is more of a stealth unleash than a stealth release. Will be pushing for more info on this and a possible 27 inch version. They didn't forget the VESA mount - they sacrificed it for a slender profile ;).

Would love one!

What's the difference between the 950 and 750?

I'm planning to get 3 of these. Would they work well with games using the onboard 3D conversion thingy? and woulld all 3 screens work in perfect 3D unison?

I'm a n00b with monitors!

Hi guys I just got mine.

I'm using the dual link dvi cable at the moment. Should I switch to hdmi or Display port? Is there a benefit ?

Can someone point me to some settings to use?

Lastly I used the settings on NCXs guide and the screen looks good. But after playing with settings I came to the HDMI black level, it was on normal but I tried it on low and colours seem more vibrant where as before they looked washed out, it is the same with films, the blacks are black instead of whitish black.

Also should response be set to fast, faster or fastest?

Before you do anything else try the following:

Download the latest ForceWare drivers if you haven't already and go to Display ---> Adjust desktop color settings. Change 'Content type reported to the display' from 'Auto-select' --> 'Desktop Programs'.

Don't use anybody else's settings verbatim and expect excellent results - each individual SA950 is slightly different. You have to go by your own eyes not somebody else's colorimeter. The overdrive is quite well handled on the SA950 series so you shouldn't have any problems using the 'Fastest' response time setting. I can't recommend any settings for you to use seeing as I haven't reviewed this one yet but I could extrapolate based on my experience with the T27A950 and other Samsung monitors if you like. ;)

Hmm I'm running the latest drivers 280.26 but when I go Display>adjust colour settings
I just have the options:

1 select display you would like to change
2. choose how colour is set
other apps control colour settings
use nvidia settings
3. apply the following enhancements
digital vibrance
hue

Hah sure, the T version isnt that different from the s apart from response is it?

Ok, got a bit of a dilemma.
Ordered the S27A950D but I currently have an EVGA NVIDIA 580 GTX. The graphics card cost me quite a bit so I would prefer not to have to change it. Since everywhere i've read so far states that this monitor is predominantly aimed at ATI users (Mainly in regards to the 3D) would I be better off returning the monitor and:-
1: Waiting for the new ASUS 27" that is "supposedly" due out soon and keep my 580 GTX as this will then be compatible with 3D Vision etc.
2: Buying one of the current 23" 3D Vision Monitors and keep my 580 GTX (Open to suggestions as to the best current 23" model)
or of course:-
3: Keep the S27A950D and Sell/Trade my 580 GTX for an ATI Card of equivalent power?

Hope you can help and I await your replies with eager anticipation xD.

I think those options are only for HDMI - I'm mentally absent today. ;) The T27A950D is indeed very similar to the S27A950D but the OSD and setup procedure is different (more like a TV than a monitor). Still - feel free to give the following a go as a base and see how it looks. Just a quick thing - are the default colour values all set to '50' by default? Can you adjust these once you have also set the colour preset to 'Warm 2'?

Brightness= According to taste
Contrast= 82
Colour Preset= Warm 2
R= 50
G= 43
B= 50
Gamma mode= 3

If you can't adjust the colours whilst also using 'Warm 2' use the following:

R= 52
G= 43
B= 46

Try these with HDMI black level on 'normal' initially. If you find things do look better with this set to 'low' and you don't notice any relative loss of detail here then keep it on low - it works better on some GPUs! Also ensure you haven't got any ICC profiles (Windows 7 calibration wizard settings etc.) left over from previous monitors.

It really is a long shot, I know. ;)
