** NEW SAMSUNG 750D & 950D True 120Hz LED Monitors - PRE-ORDER! **

frame sequential with nvidia? no problem

1. Install iZ3D
2. Output 120Hz
3. Run game in 3D
4. Press 3D on monitor and choose frame sequential.
5. have fun 30 days trial

And I might have tried it if the monitor also came on 30 days free trial.

Since it doesn't... after reading all the problems people are having, I've decided to give this a miss for now - the tech is clearly some way from being sufficiently mature as to inspire confidence in buying from the internet sight-unseen and prices will probably improve in the meantime.

Not to mention a few more alternatives will probably appear on the market given time.

Also, Samsung's release of these monitors has been unimpressive. They've been doing this long enough to know that they should work with graphics card producers to have suitable drivers available at launch, keep people informed as to availability dates etc.

Having AMD cards able to do better than NV cards is a fairly major own-goal tbh when NV have been leading the market for some time. Am I going to buy a lower-performing AMD card so that I can have a Samsung monitor? No, of course not, I'm going to wait until a monitor that has been properly developed in partnershp with both card manufacturers hits the e-streets - and one that has connections that I can use.

The techical requirements of a monitor such as this really need to be spelled ouot LOUD AND CLEAR by Samsung and retailers - for 120Hz and/or 3D, you need a Displayport or DVI-D connection. Many people will believe that HDMI is the top dog in the world of connectivity and make a horrible mistake - not everyone has 4 days to spare investigating, reading OC etc.

Let's see if ASUS can do any better - anyone know of any other 3D monitors on the horizon?

Are Samsung having a joke with this monitor? They are killing it before it is released.

They must have some idea on the leadtime..otherwise I am going for the Dell 2410:mad:

Yeah and one thing I forgot to mention previously was the fact that im a matte user/fan and have ALWAYS hated gloss. On this monitor I don't notice the reflections at all unless the screen is black and even then I simply look past it. I'm definitly a convert :P

It did take some getting used to the whites though, I'm used to them looking grainy and a bit sparkly with a rough texture. On gloss it just looks like smooth white, its hard to describe.

forgive my lack of scrolling though the 30 pages of posts to find the answer..but is the Samsung S23A750D ever coming out? its been delayed for what seems like an eternity. is there some reason why it has been delayed for so long, are they changing something on it or is this direct cause of the japan quake and subsequent tsunami.

I have heard that the 10th Oct maybe the new date.

Complete balls up if you ask me.

I'm not sure how closely you've been following the release (or lack thereof) of this monitor but they were originally scheduled for a March release. Now here we are at the end of September and we haven't got stable supplies of the SA950 series in the UK and no supplies of the SA750 series.

I have probed Samsung about this and apparently they are aiming for a mid-October release for the SA750 series here. There was suggestion of some 'driver issue' which they didn't care to elaborate on but it could have something to do with Frame Sequential and Nvidia (a possible fix coming mid October then?) Don't shoot the messenger if that turns out to be wrong though. :)

The driver issues may also be related to the display port and AMD drivers, or maybe firmware. Whatever it is it would be nice if they could give a better estimate of when they will be ready rather then letting people get excited and then disappointed at another delay over and over again.

Samsung are now saying that they will start to ship on the 24th October to suppliers.

So shoudl be shipping to customers from the 27th October.

Cancelled my Pre order as I have has enough of this BS

Same problem as Jonstatt

I don't really want to use a "ghetto-fix" :) with a brand new monitor. I will return it and get it replaced. I found a tell-tell sign that something isn't quite right. If you look at the back of the monitor where the base meets the screen, it is not perfectly straight. In the picture below you can see its a bit further away on the right side than the left, as if its twisted very slightly, probably affecting its movement.

Jonstatt - did you get this fixed? Last I heard you were returning the monitor to get a replacement but I didn't hear any more.

I eneded up buying one when I found out that Dell were not planning to fix my laptop because I'm getting a replacement so wife & I needed a 2nd monitor fairly urgently - and guess what?

It has the same problem you described, it doesn't go completely vertical. Probably about 5-10 degrees tilted backwards at best.

The manual is very short on the subject of tilt, but it does show the monitor completely vertical (although only in a diagram, not a photo).

I can imagine that fully vertical there may be an issue with it falling forward - so I'm not sure whether to return it or not, it may be that that's the design but I'd be grateful if Jonstatt could let us know what happened with his.

Already having probs with pixmania - they created 2 orders so I had to refuse one and wait until it's returned to their warehouse before I get a refund :(

EDIT: I just found Jonstatt's later post where he says that the replacement was the same.
Interesting that the batch in the photos was made in Mexico but "ours" are made in Romania - I suspect the European ones are all we are likely to see, since the Mexican ones are likely to be shipped to the US markets so it does seem likely, as Jon said, that it's a case of take it or leave it.

Probably not something I'd have noticed if I hadn't previously read his posts tbh - in general the adjustment available on this screen is unlikely ever to be used, the near-vertical forward limit is about the only place I can ever imagine it being unless I need to point it downwards due to reflections from behind, and that does happen in our house, but even being vertical wouldn't help with that :(

I was fiddling with mine tilting it backwards and forwards and at one point it wasnt completley vertical. I thought this was normal, then I tilted it fully back then fully forward again and it was completely vertical. I think its something to do with the way it is designed.

I also noticed a gap on the top right of my screen where it looks like the casing is coming apart (from above). I tried pushing it together but it puts pressure on the screen so I've left it. I only noticed it by looking at it from above so I'm not really bothered.

Thanks Frenzy I tried it but it made no difference, I'm not sure if I'll worry about it since the supplier almost certainly has a whole batch of these from the same place.

I noticed that you're a GTX580 user - how are you finding it with an NVidia setup - have you managed to work around the limitations?

To be honest I didn't buy it for the 3d, just the looks and the 120hz. So I haven't tried 3d at all :P One of the limiting factors being the 3d glasses I have has no battery :(

Apparently some people have got it working with iz3d, not sure how well it works though.

Try tilting back slightly then forwards and try doing it from both the top of the screen and the bottom near the mount, it should go vertical at some point.

I just want to check, when you set your screen to hdmi normal does the screen get brighter?

I just checked my box, mine says made in Romania too.
