** NEW SAMSUNG 750D & 950D True 120Hz LED Monitors - PRE-ORDER! **

Yeah... im stumped too. I didn't sleep last night as I got carried away trying to solve it. So ive bit at it for a good 10 hours+.

I was really enjoying this monitor, its a beautiful 2D picture, best i've ever seen. But i paid this huge amount of money to enjoy 3D, and at 30fps its not that enjoyable.

Gonna give it till tomorrow to find a solution then i'll send it back i think :(

Hmm.. just read this in a comparison of differant 3D driver solutions...

"Finally, we want to show you what to expect from low- to mid-range cards. Our original plan was to use a Radeon HD 5770, but both of the models we have on-hand refused to work with the TriDef driver, reporting that they cannot detect the 3D monitor over DisplayPort. So, we had to go with a Radeon HD 6790 to represent AMD’s entry-level 3D card."

Now im not using displayport or getting that problem, but they are obviously having problems with Tridef and a 5770 like me.

I wish there was some way i could try with a different graphics card, i don't want to wait till my DSR period is up though to try it only to find out its not the card... i dont know what to do!

Well I suppose you could look at it this way. You are very happy with the 2D performance of the monitor and the image (understandable - I would be too) but are unhappy with the obvious limitations in 3D that shouldn't be there. You've done everything you can as far as drivers go. There are only really 2 possible things that could be causing this:

1) The GPU
2) The monitor

If it is indeed the GPU you would be able to replace this when it is time and hopefully be happy that everything works as it should. If it is the monitor and you can confirm that it doesn't work with your new GPU then surely the monitor must be faulty (and so the DSR period being over wouldn't matter). I can't really see how anything else (other than GPU or monitor) would be causing such a definite restriction on things.

If you were to return under DSR you would have to cover the return postage cost, which is obviously quite insignificant in the grand scheme of things. The problem is it will only be a matter of time before you upgrade that GPU and then you will probably want the monitor back. You could purchase another one but if you returned it in the first place that would indicate you weren't confident it was a GPU issue so why would you want to buy the monitor again? :p

Ok so i uninstalled the bundled tridef software and tried iZ3D instead. With these drivers my games are no longer capped at 30fps in 3D. I was just playing WoW in 3D with 70-80 fps.
However when enabling vsync using tridef drivers, nothing happens. FPS still just fluctuates freely, didn't lock it to 60.

Anyway, this shows it seems to be a problem with the Tridef software and i guess my GPU. Strange thing is i can't find mention of this problem with a 5770 anywhere after hours of searching except that one comment about it not working over displayport with Tridef.

None of this really helps me though as iZ3D is only a trial and i want to use the Tridef that came with the monitor.

Ouch. The S27A950D? I'll take a look for you one sec.

Edit: Hmm, i cant seem to find anything. Only model number on there is "AD-6314N". But that doesnt relate to any product i can find on samsungparts.com (they have all the samsung spare products).

Forget Samsungparts. Try www.digicare.co.uk in the uk. Just give them the part no.
I got spare 3D glasses from them for £47 delivered.

For problems in 3D.

Ensure you do not have Plug and Play monitor in Device Manager against Monitors.

If you do, choose Update driver and browse to the CD that came with the Montior.

You want it to say your Monitor Type i.e. SyncMaster SA750_S27A750D (Display Port)
