** NEW SAMSUNG 750D & 950D True 120Hz LED Monitors - PRE-ORDER! **

They did a price match for my graphics cards. might be worth asking

Nope they wont do a price match as it was a 'this week only' offer even though it was in pre order status for most of that week...

I've priced up all my parts for new build and monitor and it works out quite a bit cheaper from a competitor so I think I will be going with them.

Nice review PCM2, I'll link to it in case you don't want to self plug. :p

The extremely low input lag is great to hear about. With regards to the colour calibration, do you think it will be tough to get a good result without a colorimeter?

Thanks. ;) It depends on how variable the SA750s turn out to be with regards setting them up. I am particularly concerned about whether they will all handle gamma the same way. Unlike your typical IPS panel monitor which tends to be pretty well calibrated around an optimal gamma level our SA750 seemed to use pretty rubbish defaults. Altering the gamma actually significantly reduced some minor gradation issues (blocky gradients and the like) and meant that the default contrast level was actually useful to use, indicating that something was just not set up right in the factory! If they behave more predictably (or some are simply better set up regarding gamma) then it shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully the colour will be similar on each with a minor and correctable red tint as then you wouldn't need a colorimeter to tell you what to do - you'd just lower the red channel a little and hopefully the image would look more neutral.

I do plan on acquiring an SA950 in the not too distant future (have an S27A850D to play with first) and hopefully this will give further insight into possible differences and setting these things up optimally. I am also curious as to whether the slightly different electronics (DVI port and possible other differences under the hood) make any difference regarding input lag. As mentioned in the review the test is only an indication - but we did so many repeats that it should offer a useful comparison.

ask for a price match for all of it?

I did explain I would be spending over £2000 with them but they wouldnt offer me £20 off the monitor so I doubt they would match 15 other items.

Edit: £175 saving now :D

Edit: Monitor ordered, hope its okay... eek.

Great review PCM.

Good reading and I can argue with anything there.

I am loving the Monitor and was pretty sure it was a good one.

Thanks. It was a pleasure to use and it didn't have an easy task being put up against high-end CRTs, VA panels and the likes of the Apple Thunderbolt. But it certainly held its own.

I kiss my monitor everynight before I go to sleep.

But it's too glossy for that. Hope you clean it afterwards!
